Have you seen the Prague Castle already and looking for some spot to relax and enjoy the weather? Walking distance from Hradcany are those gardens (there are also other gardens like Ledeburske)....good spot for weddings also...

“A different world”
Reviewed 11 January 2012

Again ... this is one of the many other sites you find if you just wander Mala Strana (Lesser Quarter). This is one of Europe's grandest in-city gardens. Built by Waldsten in the 1620's, this is a wonderful garden to spend a peaceful spring or summer afternoon after a long tour of Prague. Note the garden is closed during the winter.

“A charmingly tranquil garden away from the madding crowd”
Reviewed 30 July 2011

I was on my way back to the City centre from Prague Castle which in fact I thought was a little disappointing especially 'Golden Lane' which wasn't Golden at all! There was a small open door on the left of the road along which I was walking. I looked inside and was amazed to see a beautiful walled garden. I wasn't sure whether entrance was allowed but followed some other people inside and how glad I was that I did. The gardens are great but there is more - a large pond with huge Carp and at the other end, some Peacocks who provide plenty of interesting photo opportunities as they prance around. Well worth a half hour detour and all for free.

“An unusual oasis in a crowded tourist city”
Reviewed 15 June 2011

Somehow, while navigating through the streets of Mala Strana, we came accross the Valdstejn palace a number of times. This is a beautiful place for a short stop to rest and enjoy this unusual garden, created by a man who hoped to be the king of the Chzech as a display of his wealth.
Enjoy the small artificial lake full of colourful fish, the 'maze' of hedges, the artificial cave, the aviary and couple of charming little fountains.
And if you come in an opportune moment, one of the beautiful peacocks wandering around will show off his luxurious tail.

“Leave the Real World Behind”
Reviewed 11 April 2011

As you step from Mala Strana's streets into a world of manicured hedges, Greek gods, fish ponds and fountains, it sometimes feels like you have gone through the looking glass, Alice-in-Wonderland kind of style. A very calming oasis awaits you. Even the limestone grotto in the western end makes you truly feel like you have the left the real world.
