“Your quiet time in Prague”
Reviewed 1 October 2012

Olsanske Cemeteries are truly amazing. The best way is to allow you to get lost there and enjoy quietness, nature and old graves. Could be spooky for some or very interesting for others. I liked that. Some of the graves were destroyed, others kept in great condition and other just covered with greenery. Worth visiting if you're in this area.

“misunderstanding”
Reviewed 21 September 2012

On a map it looked like a park. When we get there on a bikes (crossing half of the city) it turned out to be a cemetry. Fail. :)

“Lovely and quiet with great deal of history.”
Reviewed 13 July 2012

Visiting on a very hot day in July, made for a cool change in the shade. An enormous cemetery with a great deal of history. Our primary reason for visiting was to see Prague War Cemetery. To get there we had to walk through half of the civilian cemetery.
The War Cemetery is as wonderful as any other CWGC Cemetery. Very well looked after. Not very large with 256 burials. 34 of these are unknown. The burials span just about every allied nation during WW2 and cover POW's and allied airmen.

“A true escape from the city streets.”
Reviewed 15 May 2012

This place is wonderful. I visited in May on a hot, sunny afternoon. It's like being in a beautiful forest, that happens to be a cemetery too. The place is a working graveyard, so discretion is called for, because as you wander around, you'll see people tending to their loved one's graves. The place is very overgrown, and awash with wild flowers and teaming with blackbirds and jays. There are thousands of full size trees, some growing directly from the graves. Walking around a cemetery isn't everyone's idea of a well spent afternoon, but the tranquility of this place is quite intoxicating. And if you are looking for Franz Kafka's final resting place, you'll find his grave further down the road in the New Jewish Cemetary.

“Good if you know Czech history”
Reviewed 20 January 2012

If you are familiar with Czech history, it can be a nice walk. You will need a map and some directions to visit the graves of the famous Czech personas. If you just like cemeteries, this place will be ideal, since its a fairly large complex. Do not miss the nearby New Jewish Cemetary.
