We stayed at the Green Garland from 18-23rd of March for a winter city break with my sister and her other half.
The location really could not be better! All the tourist attractions, shops and bars etc are within easy walking distance but the quiet street makes for a peaceful nights sleep.
The rooms were clean and more spacious than expected and the beds were very comfortable. Although there wasn't a television in the rooms, we found this to be a blessing in disguise and everything else we could need was provided.
The staff were lovely and very helpful and nothing was too much trouble.
The continental breakfast offered a good variety and was a sufficient start to the day but there are cafe's and eateries close by for anyone wanting a cooked breakfast if required.
We really couldn't fault anything, this accommodation offers fantastic value for money, friendly service and the cheapest beer we found at only 22 CZK (about 80p) was just next door! What more could you ask for?! We will definitely stay here again if we return to Prague in the future.

Pension U Zeleného vence (The Green Garland Pension for those of us English speakers finding Czech a difficult to pronounce language) is marked by great location, wonderfully helpful and friendly staff and surprisingly economical off-season (February and March) rates.

Prague (Praha) was our gateway air travel city. We stayed at the Green Garland 4 days at the end of February adjusting to the time zone shift from the west coast of the USA and a day after the Masters World Cup ski races in transit to ski touring in Norway. Green Garland staff was extremely helpful in arranging car service to/from the airport that would accommodate my 210 cm long ski box. Staff also was helpful in helping me resolve airline change problems during the weekend when KLM/Delta European call centers are closed but that is another story.

Breakfasts are enjoyable and a good start for a day of touring Prague. Coffee was great, with juice, fruits, cereals and breads and cakes available. Certainly enough calories to get me through the day with a light lunch before a Czech dinner and much more than a French style Continental breakfast.

Our room was very spacious. Significantly bigger than our rooms in Germany and Norway allowing us to spread things out and not trip over my long ski box and gear bags. Our room (#7) had a separate toilet/sing room and shower/sink room. Making for better "scheduling" of two people.

Wi-fi worked in room. Hot water pot and tea service was nice.

Short (several blocks) walk between the Old Town Square (Astronomical Clock) and Charles Bridge.

Very good value (especially with the winter pricing).

I stayed at the Green Garland for a week in March 2012 with my sister and by the end of the stay felt like family. People who works there are incredibly nice and friendly, so eager to help in everything you could possibly need. If you need a toy store, they will explain, if u needs Tesco, it is easy and near. Great restaurants are nearby, great pubs just across the street. Room was clean and comfortable, but the Wi-Fi was having constant problems- Wi-Fi was excellent in the pub across the street. Never the less, great B&B, would definitely come again.

Stayed here for 3 nights with my partner and it was an awesome place.

The owners were friendly, hospitable and nice. Always willing to help and glad to guide us around and advise on better routes to get to the train station for our subsequent trip.

Location was fabulous, just 5 minutes away from Old Town Square and about 10 minutes from the metro Staromestska. There is a supermarket nearby the hotel as well at Tesco.

The breakfast was in a cosy breakfast room where we got to interact with fellow travellers. We also had 3 keys for the main door, the b&b door and our own room doors. The room was spacious with sufficient space for a sofa, a spare bed and for our luggage. There is also a lounge area where you can boil water, make tea and relax. Hair dryer and ironing facility is also available upon request.

The only down side is that the building did not have a lift as it is under some conservation project and not allowed to build a lift so you have to carry your luggage up 2 flights of stairs. See the attached pictures for more details!

Stayed here for several nights and would definitely recommend it to other travelers looking for basic, no frills accommodations in a great location. Using a map from the airport, I didn't have trouble finding it, but old town Prague can be a bit of a maze, so a good map is useful. The service was great, with staff from the B&B helpful in providing recommendations and advice on what to see.

I stayed at the Green Garland for a week in January 2012 and by the end of the stay felt like family. Jana and Pavel were extremely welcoming and gracious, from our first e-mails to the moment we said goodbye. I knew I could count on them for advice and all sorts of help. The rooms were cozy and quiet, and the beds were comfy. Anything extra you needed for the room could be provided by reception.

As others have mentioned, the location is amazing. The hotel is not only in Prague's central, historic Old Town, it is on a quiet little street south of the main tourist drag that features THREE amazing kavarnas (cafes). After seeing the sights, I practically lived in these cafes and made many wonderful local friends. But the great thing is that you can sit alone and read with a pilsner in one place, have a rowdy conversation in the next, or get some work done over coffee and quiche in the next. Staying on Retezova Street means you get to be a tourist and have a taste of the relaxed, local experience as well. Then you come home to the friendly folks at the Green Garland and think "Why do I even want to leave Prague?"

I was nearby Prague by business needs and decided to keep couple of day for visiting old Prague, which I am very loving in and to drink a chech beer, the best in the world, I think. I found Pension through the Internet and never regretted. Most important in Prague is localisation of your bed. Because eating is not expensive and it is a lot around, also beer drinking pubs and knipes are a lot here. Pension "U Zelenogo Vence" located in the best center of Old Prague, but in quite small street - not a lot of people coming through. The rooms are clean, the breakfast is good enough and the personal is VERY hospitable. Also prices is very reasonable. Next time my visiting Prague, I hope I could stay here again.
Best regards to everybody
