The restaurant designed in middle ages style with big heavy tables.
They make their own bear the dark is good. Every 20 minutes there is a show near the table: belly dancer, juggler, fire tricks.
We had a good time

We called in here after a long day up at Prague Castle. The look of the place is great - quite dark, lit only by candles with lots of strange things hanging on the walls(actually one of them was just a horse collar!), sheepskins on bench seats, very rustic furniture, staff in Medieval style clothes and Medieval music playing. Outside there is a warning that the staff may not be as polite as modern people would expect, don't be offended it is all part of the experience. We ordered beers, which were duly banged down on the table when they arrived. The menu is interesting but not very Medieveal so don't go expecting Pottage, Black Porray, Leche Lombard or Hypocras. Food was ordered and didn't take too long to arrive despite it seeming that staff were thin on the ground. I had a vegetable platter, which included potatoes and sweetcorn, it was not a huge portion but satisfying. Himself had a similar platter with chicken instead but his portion didn't seem very generous - not very filling and not very good value for money. We finished with apple pie which was very good. If we'd arrived later and not been so footsore we would probably have stayed for the entertainment - fire-eaters, jugglers & bellydancing in the cellar! The waiter was more polite than expected, even friendly! I would reccommend it to others and definitely go again because the whole experience was great fun even if the food wasn't all we expected.

medieval music, large wooden tables, candles and dark rooms. ridiculous wax figure in the corner. a good place to enjoy a good beer - right at the base of the stairs to Prague Castle.

After coming across this gem of a place while walking to the castle, we decided to go in and appreciate the ambience. The food is good here, but their home made beer is something else.

From Tuesday - Saturday they also provide entertainment in the form of little shows for 200 crowns (approx £6). This included a band, a pirate fight, belly dancer, snake and my favourite the fire eater! This is performed over a three hour period with little breaks of 20-30mins between each show.

I would highly recommend this place for the food, drink and entertainment. The staff, espeically Martina the waitress are polite and always helpful. The only down side is there is no air-con (keeping with the building I suppose) and the stairs to the toilet are steep and quite dark so may not be wheelchair friendly.

Very nice tavern from 1375, with great food and beer. It is a unique place because of the medieval decoration. In the basement there are skulls on the ceiling, and you can really feel you're in another time. We sat on a big table with other tourists from India, and had the "Marinated pork collar". The service is not their best, maybe on purpose. Surely a nice and unique experience that can't be missed.
