“Amazing design and great location”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

The interior of the hotel is very modern and well designed, UNIC'que in a very pleasant way. The rooms are comfortable and cosy. Great location, within 10 minute walk to the old town. Staff was very helpful and the taxi service if ordered from the hotel seemed to be cheaper then getting one yourself. Great place to stay for a romantic weekend in Prague.

Wonderful hotel, very kind and considerate - yet not intrusive - staff. Very cosy rooms, nicely styled and roomy bathrooms. The breakfast is marvellous, so is the restaurant and its quaint waiter. Located within walking distance from the old town. I would definitely recommend it.

Very modern and great interior, superb breakfast, helpful staff, extremely comfortable beds and situated in a quiet street near to a lovely square. We stayed here 13-16 July 2014 and were not disappointed. Had a superior room (lowest grade) but frankly perfect for a 3 night city break. Lovely bathroom and shower ...but shower door leaked; it is a design fault and hotel are aware of it and working on it. All the usual facilities - shower gel etc provided, A/C was fine and the street is very quiet. The Petrske Square (Petrske nam just across from the hotel) has a great restaurant Al Forno with a real neighborhood feel & excellent food ..but you might need to book ! Hotel well situated for the Jewish Quarter a 10 mins walk away... It's a 10-15 mins walk to the main square, 5 mins max to nearest tram stop to take a great tram ride - take Tram 5 one stop over the river one and then change to Tram 17 which takes you along the River bank - with great views on to the city and you can go as far as the Charles Bridge etc. Transport is very cheap and makes a nice change from all the walking we did! Would definitely recommend this hotel.

OK, the hotel is fairly new and therefore should be in good condition. It is; but more than this, it does exude a bit of quality. We booked into what is a superior room (understand this is the lowest grade). Yes its not very big but adequate in most other ways. Appliances are very modern and appear of excellent quality. Receptionist was kind enough to show us other rooms and an upgrade may well be worth the money. Not warm enough during our stay to activate the air conditioning so can't possibly comment. Breakfasts are the best. Fresh fruits, different yoghurts, various breads, croissants, numerous cheeses, hams, honestly I could go on and on. We were a party of 6 and all agreed breakfast was a highlight. Did not have an evening meal in the hotel as we were out every night sampling the different delights of Prague. Receptionists were very knowledgeable and friendly and will assist with any enquiries you have. Waiting staff were well dressed and very professional. Location is great. 10 to 15 minute walk to the central areas and to the waterfront. It is tucked down a side street but no problems. Always reluctant to give 5 stars for a first visit but we'll return and if its the same (or better) then 5 stars it is. Frankly, well worth a visit.

Room Tip: If you can afford it, pay for the highest grade room you can.

As written in the subject above we decided to visit hotel Unic for the second time exactly one year after our first visit. Things have changed for better and for worse.

This time we booked a superior room (the green ones). We didn't know that it makes such a difference (negatively speaking). The rooms are much smaller than the deluxe ones, and even the elevator that takes you to them is not in the lobby but in the end of a corridor near the dining room. And here is our first conclusion: go for the deluxe (the red ones). It is not much expensive and is better in so many ways.

When we visited Prague the weather was pretty hot, even in our opinion. And we are from the hot Middle East. Unfortunately, the air conditioning system is not good. It is somewhat complicated to operate, and even when you get hold of all it's functions it doesn't cool your room sufficiently. We had the same experience on our first visit and we thought that maybe this is somehow connected to the fact it was a just-opened hotel. It turns out that it is not the issue. Fact is the air conditioning isn't good even one year later.

And here comes the positive side of our second visit:
1. The service was and still is very good. Every service we received was 5 star! The reception desk was very helpful and extremely friendly, there is an interactive map in the lobby helping first timers to understand their location and find attractions.
2. Restaurant EMMA CAFE is no longer the operator of the dining room. The room has been re-branded and now called ALITER. We both agreed that the breakfast is now much much better. If you ever been to a Marriot hotel - this is the standard. The only minor setback was that you cannot have a real espresso. The coffee comes out of an automatic machine and if you are a true coffee addict you will not like it. If you do insist on a real cup of coffee/espresso, you will have to pay. A year ago it was free of charge.
3. Thought we thought before that the location of Unic is very good, this time we understood it was amazing. As we decided to visit Karlovy Vary and Dresden (Germany), we came to understand that the main bus station is within walking distance from Unic. A big plus.
4. Checkout time is 11:00 AM, but our flight was scheduled for 23:00 PM. The reception desk approved us to stay in our room until 12:30 AM for free. It is another example of the great service.

The rest of the review is the same as our extremely positive review from last year:
Cleanliness - still great.
Service - as said, amazing.
Location - the best we could ask for (see above).
Breakfast - yummy. Deserts are also very good.

Room Tip: Go for the deluxe!!!! The superior rooms are much smaller and not that cheaper.

Dear Haifanic,
I am very delighted that you came to our hotel for second time and I am very happy, that you keep satisfied with our service, friendly staff, rich buffet breakfast and convenient central location. Thank you for your comment according to room size. Our hotel offers more options according to guests preferences: in addition to our Superior rooms (from 22m²) we are glad to offer more spacious Deluxe rooms (from 28m²), One bedroom Suites (from 46m²) and Deluxe Suites (130 m²).

I am really sorry for inconvenience with A/C. We finally found the best solution and we have started with replacing of all A/C control panels in all hotel rooms. So, on your 3th stay with us, everything will be working perfectly.

We highly appreciate your review and we are looking forward to welcome you back!

Some people will find this hotel as not great from a location perspective since it is a few blocks from the main street. However, it is a short walking distance to many attractions and next door to a small family run supermarket. Hotel has been recently redone and is great. Staff is wonderful with answers from all questions. Adrianne at the front desk answered my multitiude of questions and was of great help. Breakfast is very plentiful with many hot dishes. Rooms have A/C which was a godsend since it was very hot when we visited Prague. My family and I highly recommend the Hotel UNIC Prague.

Room Tip: We had a room on the front of the hotel but even though it faced the street, the room was quiet.
