My girlfriend (28) and I (27) had a wonderful trip to Prague which was made all the more enjoyable by the lovely Carlton Hotel. The rooms were perfect; spacious and clean. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the location was great- just 5 mins on the tram to the centre of Prague. We would most definately recommend this hotel to anyone of any age. There is a great bar 2 mins away which serve amazingly cheap beers and bar snacks- great for the first night if you want to stay local to the hotel and find your bearings! Turn right out of the hotel, then first left. Cant remember its name, but ask reception and they will know!

This hotel is rated 4*, and it could be except for the fact that when we were there the restaurant was closed and the bar seemed to have its own hours, and was closed on our last evening in Prague.
The hotel is spotless, rooms are a good size and the transport links to the city centre are great. Buy a 3 day tram ticket from reception for 220k and get a number 9 into and out of the city centre. Taxi to and from the airport,650k each way. I would stay in this hotel again, but not rely on the bar and restaurant.

We stayed for 3 nights between 17- 20 September. Hotel has recently been refurbished and the rooms are exceptionally nice. Each have a free room safe which is handy. Buffet breakfast is very good and there is also a small bar which is quite nice if you fancy a nightcap before retiring. Location wise it's about 1.5 miles from city centre and is situated in the Zizkhov residential area which on 1st impression can look a bit rough but when you look closer there are some really nice buildings around with great architecture on view. Prague suffers from some graffiti on walls outside the main tourist areas but don't let that put you off. Prague is a stunningly beautiful city. Close to the hotel (about 200 yards) there is a tram stop and they run every 5 mins into town. We bought a 3 day pass which cost 220KC which is about £5.50 - so very good value. One thing to beware in Prague is pickpockets so don't flash a bum-bag (fanny pack) or cameras around especially on busy trams or in main tourist sites. Stay street wise and you'll be fine. There is no serious crime in Prague and so long as you stay alert you will have no problems. And if you like opera/theatre/classical music you will be in heaven. There is a huge choice of concerts every single night at good prices. Enjoy!

Stayed at the Carlton in May 2005 with friends.
We emailed the hotel (-----) before our arrival and they arranged for taxis to meet us at the airport (700kr) - all very efficient and convenient. Hotel, as mentioned by others, is out to the East from the city centre in the (slightly run-down) Zizkov area. This is not a problem though as trams are handy (a stop just down the road) no.9 to middle of city or no.26 to the north of the old town - you can also walk into town which would take about 20 mins to Wenceslas Square. The Carlton looks nothing special from the outside, but the rooms are very nicely furnished with quality fittings and are very clean - all have satellite tv, safe (seems to be free), minibar, hairdryer and air-con. Breakfast is buffet-style with a good selection of tasty hot and cold food. There are not many ameneties in the hotel and the lobby and bar areas are quite small - thus nobody seems to use them. One nearby attraction (maybe not to some) is the TV tower which is only a couple of streets away and worth a visit (just along from the tower there is also a Metro stop, which is useful if you are visiting the castle as the line goes directly there).

We spent two nights in the Carlton in March 2005. When looking on Prague maps in the UK we could not find a map to show the Carlton in relation to the Old Town or Wenseslas Square so were a little apprehensive that it may be miles away. Fortunately it was only 4 stops on the tram from Weseslas Square so was ideally placed, buy tickets from the Hotel, we bought passes for the two days for two people for the grand total of £7.
The hotel itself has recently been refurbished & used to be known as the 'Brisol' this is important to know if like us you get a Taxi from the airport (650 K) about £18 as they had not heard of the Carlton and only knew it as the Bristol. The rooms are very nice with TV & a kettle & small mini bar.
Prague itself is lovely especially if you can admire architechture as the buildings are amazing, our favourite bit was walking round the old town - so much to see, do, eat & buy.

Would definately go back & would stay at the Carlton again.

We stayed at the Carlton Hotel in late February, 2005.. the staff were very helpful, the breakfast choice of food was wonderful, and to top it all off it snowed for most of our 4 day stay. Prague is a beautiful city, and after a long day's walking it was nice to come back to a comfortable hotel. The No.9 tram stops a few yards away from the hotel and will take you right to the centre of Prague in about 10 mins. or less. When I next return to Prague I will be staying at The Carlton.
