We hunted this place down based on the other reviews, it was great, made us smile! Even that it was smokey. Love it

Good quality traditional food, excellent beer, very friendly staff. A little smoky at times but that's the way it is in Prague.

We chanced upon this place when having a walk on our first day in Prague. A proper old pub/diner with locals having a drink/meal. I would highly recommend trying to search it out as most other bars in Prague have been sanitised to such an extent that once inside you could be anywhere in the world. We didn't eat here but each day there was a new printed menu and if the locals are eating there it must be okay. We made a point of stopping here for our last afternoon/teatime drink each day and I can honestly say it's the only bar we really miss since we arrived home.

This little hole in the wall is like the last 40 years haven't happened.

Thick with smoke, bare boards and tables, a chalk menu of maybe 3 items. Expect to share a table, don't expect to be spoken to in english, and don't stand in the door at 1.01 p.m. 'cos thats when all the cleaners, janitors and other low-paid workers come barreling in for their lunch-hour.

The food is cheap and filling, the beer is cheap and well-kept, the loo's a fright.

But it is an experience of the past of Prague, which has been mainly sanitised out of recognition.

Given a 'very good' rating for it's unusualness, not as a a gastro experience with slick service.
