My partner and I visited Prague for a long weekend and this was by far the best meal we had and one of the best steaks either of us had ever tried! We stumbled across Toscana Grill and were initially put off by it being so quiet. However, it was about 10pm and we noticed that the restaurant was new and had only just opened so we decided to give it the benefit of the doubt. We were seated in a booth facing an amazing open grill with red hot coals on view and front row seats to see the chef at work! Very unique!
After ordering, we were given bread and the most amazing extra virgin olive oil from Tuscany along with a little lesson in where it came from and the flavours we could expect, I've never known bread to taste so good! Our starters came, fish soups and tuscan bean soup - both were yummy!
When waiting for our main course steak to be cooked, the chef prepared a little gift for us, three cubes each of beautiful fillet steak to taste, each one drizzled in a different type of olive oil for us to taste the difference - wow, did they taste good!! This was the highlight for us, a lovely unexpected surprise and really added to our experience and enjoyment. One we had chosen our favourite oil to drizzle over, our steak was brought out on a slate, cooked to perfection. I would always eat my steaks this way from now on - the Tuscan way, drizzled in the finest nutty flavours of fresh Italian extra virgin olive oil - what a treat!
It is a real shame that this place isn't more busy as it really is a hidden gem in the centre of Prague - located right next to the National Theatre. I'm sure that as word spreads and more people discover this lovely restaurant, it will be one of the most popular steakhouses in Prague.
