The hotel (or more accurately, a couple of apartment-style rooms) is in a great location in the heart of the old town (2 minutes from the old town square) and relatively easy to find with a map on arrival (5-10 minute walk from the nearest metro terminal). Our room (room 5) was spacious and very clean and it was nice to have a bath and small kitchen, as most city centre hotels don't have these facilities.
The place was definitely atmospheric and clearly is a converted old-style town house. However, the decor was sadly neglected and the place could do with a bit of tlc. The biggest disappointment was that the rooms (or certainly our room) was NOTHING like the professional photos provided on trip advisor or the booking agency we used. So bear this in mind if considering this hotel as a possibility - I think there are probably better bargains to be had in Prague in equally good locations and possibly for a better price. We wished we had shopped around a bit more.
We didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment on the food; however, the breakfast wasn't great. We were asked if we wanted cooked eggs, which we declined, opting instead for the continental style breakfast, which consisted of nice ham and cheese and some cereal and yoghurt, but bread was very stale and orange juice was 'fake' cordial. Coffee was ok and plenty of everything - we certainly didn't go hungry! There is a Tesco within 10 minutes walk of the hotel, which is brilliant - they have a great selection of fresh bread and fruit. We bought 'easy to cook' items like pasta but when we got back to our kitchenette we realised it was devoid of cutlery and crockery! Stupidly we hadn't thought to check and had assumed it would have been equipped with basic items. We had to ask for forks, plates and sharp knives, which the owner supplied quite readily; however, he seemed quite surprised that we wanted to cook!
Sleep quality at this hotel was pretty decent - we asked for a twin room but got a double but the bed was quite comfy. It was pretty quiet also, but maybe in the summer months, it could get noisy. The only noise we had was from the front door being opened and closed but no street noise or loud music.
On departure, the hotel booked us a taxi, which arrived on time and they were quite obliging, However, it's a good job we checked with the driver as the hotel had told him to take us to the airport despite us asking to be taken to the train station!
I wouldn't have a problem staying at this hotel again, however, I just feel that there could be other hotels in the same area which are much better value for money.
