“It is OK if you bought a ticket anyway”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 July 2013

Really not too much to see - well sign-posted, but rather bare otherwise. Historically important, yes, good for the imagination, yes, but really not well-dressed. If I bought a ticket just for this, I would've been disappointed.

“Ok if you've purchased the combo ticket for the Prague Castle but not much to see”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 July 2013

We recently visited the Prague Castle, which included entrance into the Old Royal Palace. This is a historically important part of the castle grounds but was probably the least memorable of the attractions we saw as part of the Prague Castle visit.

The highlight of the Old Royal Palace would most likely be the Vladislav Hall, which is left bare so that you can imagine the scale of the grand balls that were held here in centuries past. We also liked visiting the Bohemian Chancellery room and reading about the Protestant rebellion and how the Habsburg emperor threw his councillors out of the window from this spot in 1618, kicking off the Thirty Years' War. These were the two things we recall most about visiting the Old Royal Palace.

You can also visit the All Saints Church, an extension of the Old Royal Palace. Unfortunately, this small church is somewhat difficult to recall after having also visited the Gothic masterpiece, St. Vitus Cathedral, which is literally right next to the Old Royal Palace.

Overall, this was probably the least memorable part of our visit to the Prague Castle. While not a bad attraction, one couldn't help but wonder why there was so little to see in the Old Royal Palace and if they couldn't make better use of the space. Considering the number of very good things to see/do in this area of Prague, we'd take a pass on returning to the Old Royal Palace based on our experience.

Note: Entrance into the Old Royal Palace is included as part of the Prague Castle Long Visit (350czk) or Prague Castle Short Visit (250czk) combo tickets or you can pay to enter this attraction area on its own.

Tip: It is also worth note that you can't take photos within the Old Royal Palace.

This was a nice visit but not anything very spectacular. It is included in the "short visit" tour card so it made it worth going inside. Also it is well marked with a route through so you don't get lost and also lots of plaques with information in English and Czech.

“Barely anything Inside”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 April 2013

Yes, its an old palace with history. There are clearly written English signs tell you the interesting stories happened inside this palace.

However, there's really NOTHING to see inside. Most of the rooms only have some mundane antique chairs and tables. There's a big palace, but besides the big dining hall there's only a few rooms that you can finished visit within half an hour.

It is a great palace, but should be with more content inside.

“Where's the beef?”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 February 2013

We expected to be overwhelmed and unfortunately we were completely disappointed. A huge empty hall started everything of. Even with a huge amount of imagination we could not put things together. It was not any different at the other floors. What were we missing?
