We were upgraded to a deluxe suite as we were on honeymoon and given a bottle of champagne and a card personally signed by the general manager. Upon arrival, we were ushered to sit and given a welcome drink then brought up to our lovely room. The service of the reception staff and porter were impeccable and everybody appeared to love their jobs very much. This type of service is a rarity in most places even in some 5-star hotels. The room was very comfortable and spacious. The towels are luxurious and smell lovely. The toiletries are L'occitane and the room furnishings are of high quality to match the facade of the building.

Breakfast was not included in our stay but paying for ala carte breakfast was not a problem since it was very reasonably priced and good selection of delicious food. A full american or English breakfast cost 195 koruna which is really not much. Breakfast buffet is expensive and not worth it.

We will definitely stay here again if we return to Prague. It's the best hotel experience so far with wonderful friendly and spectacular customer service.

Dear staff at Pachtuv Palace, we will be back again, hopefully next year same time, once again to celebrate our anniversay in your hotel. Our 4 days with you was not enough.
Special thanks to Naomi, reception, Robert; the driver and Sergey the bell boy. Also Petr for the nice check out the last day.

Room Tip: We loved the deluxe suite

My husband and I recently visited Prague for the 6th time but as we were going in the summer for the first time we decided to stay at a different hotel from normal - this proved to be an excellent decision on our part!! We received a very warm welcome from the reception staff - including a glass of champagne - what a fabulous way to start your holiday!!! After about 10 minutes the assistant manager came over to apologise for the delay in checking us in - apparently there had been some sort of problem which he did not feel was necessary to burden us with but as way of apology he had upgraded us to a deluxe suite!! The suite we were allocated was amazing - the space incredible, the living and sleeping quarters simply perfection. Any tiny problems (ie lack of dvd remote) were dealt with instantly and throughout our entire stay the staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. The location is superb and within easy access on foot to all the main attractions. The grounds within the hotel are beautiful and well worth ordering a drink and sitting in the courtyard enjoying such amazing surroundings. As you may guess I cannot rate this hotel highly enough and we will definitely be returning as soon as we can.

We selected the Pachtuv Palace for it's location in the Stare Mesto (Old Town) area of Prague, near the Charles Bridge. We stayed in the Villas section (18th century) and had two suites. Both were very large and airy. Bedding was good. Accommodations in the Villas are accessed by going up some stairs and some rooms have bathtubs that may be difficult for an elderly person (we were traveling with my 80-year-old Mother). Guests must cross an outdoor courtyard to get to the Villas, but umbrellas are supplied.

Additional rooms are located in the 'newer' section of the hotel (from the 19th century). Currently there is some construction of the tram line in front of the hotel along the river.

The hotel was charming, staff friendly and helpful and electronics and amenities up-to-date. Suites had a cooktop, for use with the tea kettle that proved impossible to figure out. Coffee maker was new, single cup style that could have used instructions for the uninitiated. Although bathrooms were totally modern, toilets were located separately from the bathroom, in some cases outside the bedroom. Although this was a little unusual it was not a problem. Villas have free internet with ethernet cable provided. Since I could never get it to work, which may have been a computer issue, I used the free wi-fi in the lobby. In summary, it was more like staying in an apartment than a hotel.

The staff was attentive to details and recognized we were celebrating some birthdays with some special 'treats' in our rooms upon arrival.

They are low-key about their interesting history which includes frequent stays by Mozart (whose favorite suite was 105) and visits from Beethoven, Wagner and Casanova.

We enjoyed our stay and felt that this smaller, more intimate hotel offered a true, high quality, European experience.

Room Tip: Some of the newer (19th century) hotel rooms would have River views.

The restaurant was excellent value for breakfast. So make sure you include this! It had plenty of variety and the staff where very attentive.
We ate at the restaurant at night found we had the same experience.

I strongly advice tourists to be aware that ;you need to be very careful when withdrawing money out of the ATM. A man was watching me and came up and asked me if he could have some larger notes for his small notes. I did this without thinking. I remember thinking he was smartly dressed and seemed normal. I gave him 2,000 Czech notes in return he gave me 4 @ 500 Hungarian notes. I found out later that this is a usual scam the police have a notice at the side of their van in the main square. Hopefully my silly mistake will help you. Also the hotel had information regarding this type of incident which I didn't read.
Prague is a beautiful place and really worth the effort. Our stay at this hotel was excellent.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a non-smoking room. As a non smoker its terrible to smell smoke. Our view was...

My boyfriend and I attended a wedding in Czech in June and decided to have one night in Prague to see the city. We found a great rate on line for the hotel and booked a standard room with breakfast. We didnt use the hotel airport service as I found a cheaper one, albeit not a mercedes!
The hotel is conveniently located for all the city sightes and was very welcoming upon arrival. We were greeted with a smile and a welcome drink. We arrived early in the morning so our room wasnt available yet which was fine, they stored our luggage and we went off to explore. The hotel is a short walk to the Charles bridge, which was full of tourists but very pretty. We walked around the city, went to the castle and other major tourist attractions. At the end of the day we took a bus back to the hotel and it stopped almost outside.
We were shown to our room, on the 4th floor- it was lovely and really quite large. The bedroom area had a super comfy king bed and chairs and a nice big tv. Then there was a small kitchen area and lots of built in wardrobes. This then led to a bathroom (shower over bath) and a separate toilet. Everything was of god quality. The only negative was that the glass screen for the shower was quite short so the floor did get a bit wet. Nice toiletries provided by Crabtree.
We did come across a small problem in the morning when at 8am we awoke to find someone working on the windows of our room, this would have been fine if it had been the windows on the other side of the room but they were very close to the bed so our lie-in was rather ruined. I mentioned it to the hotel staff but they didnt seem particuarly bothered.
Breakfast that we had included was lovely, a big spread of fruits, breads, danish pastries, cereals, cheeses, salads and cooked items. Fresh juices, tea and coffee were also available.
Overall we had a lovely stay at the hotel and would return again, but I would definitely ask about maintenance work in advance.

We just got back from a 9 day stay in Prague with our two kids, ages 11 & 19. We stayed all 9 nights at Mamaison Pachtuv Palace and were very satisfied.

By far, the two biggest plusses for the hotel are the spacious rooms and the central location. We had a two bedroom suite which also had a large entryway and very large living room. When staying in a city for such a long time, it is great to have the space to spread out in the hotel, especially after a long day of walking and touring the city. The location is excellent; less than 100 yards from the St. Charles Bridge, and somewhat on the border of Old Town and New Town. Easy to cross over the bridge to get to the Lesser Quarter, as well.

We also got a very good rate on a family package special. We basically got the two bedroom suite for the same price as a regular deluxe room. The rate for the four of us with two bedrooms came to about 318 euros per night.

Other thoughts on the hotel:

The suite only had 1-1/2 bathrooms, meaning there was only one bath/shower for the four of us. Took a while to get out in the morning! The water pressure and heat in the shower was excellent. The amenities were L'Occidente - very good.

The rooms do not have air conditioning which is pretty typical of Prague. But still, if staying during a heat wave, you might consider an air conditioned hotel. We were fine during our stay in August.

Rooms come with free internet and the speed was fine. There is a LAN connection in the room and free wifi in the hotel lobby.

The hotel has a fitness room, although not top rate. The cardio equipment was fair- 1 treadmill, 1 bike, 1 rowing machine, and 1 stairmaster. The equipment was not top rate; more like good home equipment, rather than commercial equipment. The weights were fine. My son and I went every other day or so and it seemed like we were the only people using the fitness room.

Breakfast came with the room and it was very good. A nice buffet every morning, featuring your choice of chef made dishes (crepes, pancakes, eggs) and ready made items like smoked salmon, various fruits and cheeses, yogurts, fried eggs, sausage, bacon, fresh breads, etc. Service was excellent.

If I were coming to Prague with a family, I think this hotel is an excellent choice.

Room Tip: Search the website carefully for special rates; they are a bit hidden.
