“Beautiful hotel in great location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 October 2011

We spent three nights at the Pachtuv Palace Hotel the end of September, 2011 and would recommend it to everyone. It is beautifully decorated , clean and our room was large with a small kitchenette area. We had a balcony overlooking all of the rooftops and steeples toward the Old Town Square. It was very peaceful after a day of touring to sit outside with such a wonderful view. Our luggage didn't arrive with us from Paris and Wendy and Naomi dealt with the airport for us. They made several calls and we had our luggage by 7:00 that first night. We had the hotel's driver pick us up at the airport. It wasn't much more than a cab and he was very professional and pointed out certain sights to us. All in all, the staff are all friendly and professional. The free breakfast which comes with a deluxe room was the best we've ever seen as there were numerous choices to select from. The location is perfect as it is walking distance to many sights including the Charles bridge and Old Town. It is located on a small quiet street so you feel like you are away from the hustle of all the tourists. This was one of the best choices we have made in finding a hotel on TripAdvisor.

We stayed at The Pachtuv Palace at the end of Sept 2011 to celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary. What an excellent choice! We had the most amazing suite and the attention to detail by the hotel staff is to be highly recommended. From the welcome drink on arrival as we checked in, to the storing of our suitcases and phoning for a taxi to return to the airport, the whole experience was superb. Everything about this beautiful hotel and wonderful staff can't be praised enough. The location was fabulously central without feeling any of the hustle and bustle of a city centre. We were comfortably within walking distance to everything we could want to see in Prague which easily has to be one of the most stunningly beautiful cities in the world. We will definitely be back.

Room Tip: I booked through Thomas Cook Hotel/Flight deals and upgraded the room when booking. This was definit...

We stayed at the Pachtuv Palace for 4 nights in November 2010, all i can say is . . wonderful!

Hotel Location: Beyond perfect. Right by charles bridge, close to the opera houses, the castle and some fantastic eateries!

Room: magnificent - spacious, expertly decorated, gorgeous furniture. Great 'kitchenette' wardrobe thing, ideal for cups of tea and light snacks. Air con was perfect perfect, cool nights and warm in the mornings. turn down of the duvet every night. Ironing service. Just wonderful.

Staff: The staff were so so helpful and friendly, even 3 months before we arrived! I emailed to ask for assistance in booking opera tickets. They could not have been more helpful, assisting in selecting the opera itself, booking our private box and ensuring the tickets were in our room for when we arrived.

I honestly couldn't recommend the city of Prague or the Pachtuv Palace highly enough - it was wonderful, and helped make this trip one of my most treasured.

Please visit it and tell your friends :) !

Room Tip: It really is worht asking for a river view room when you book - try Splendia.com for good deals

We had a bad experience in being overcharged by the taxi driver to get to MaMaison at Pachtuv Palace (what are you supposed to do when you arrive at Prague station with suitcases if not to follow the signs to TAXIS and expect the city authorities to police who plies their trade there). From then on the experience was magic. The staff at Pachtuv Palace were courteous and ever helpful and when things went wrong (run out of toilet paper and safe wouln't open) they solved the problems quickly and helpfully. The restaurant was superb 5-star cuisine and were extremely helpful about some dietary limitations we have - nothing was too much trouble and they created superb meals without any problems. Little things like wanting a dishcloth and tea-towel in the flat were a bit irritating but overall this was a great experience,. The hotel is so close to all the attractions of Prague too.

Truly a beautiful 5* hotel in a fantastic location. Central enough to be able to walk to Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square and must be the nearest hotel to Charles Bridge and some fantastic restaurants. Our room was in the older part of the hotel, we didn't have a view but this didn't detract from our stay and it was HUGE! Big bathroom with seperate shower cubicle, bathrobes, slippers and L'Occitane toiletries a very nice touch. We also were given a half bottle of champagne on ice in our room to celebrate our anniversary! The only thing that dampened our stay was the rain (in July!) but the hotel came to the rescue and provided us with umbrellas.
I would gladly stay here again and am really missing it already! Would love to return in the winter months when the Christmas market is there, with hogroasts in old town square and the patio heaters and blankets provided in the outside restaurants.

Room Tip: Email the hotel a long way in advance if it is a special occasion, they are very good with room upgr...

My husband and I stayed here for our 20th wedding anniversary from 15th to 18th Sept. We had arranged for a transfer with the hotel car (about £30) the driver was waiting for us when we arrived at airport with a nice audi and bottles of water for the 25 min journey. I would definitely recommend this service. We arrived at the hotel at 11am and did not expect use of our room until later but were informed that it would be ready for us in half an hour - great! We had booked a junior suite with a view of the river and castle and were upgraded free to a deluxe suite with balcony (room 209). A huge suite with 5 windows and balcony (see photos). Wendy on reception was absolutely excellent once checked in she went into great detail about local attractions and recommendations, plenty of maps and tour information etc. was given to us. When we went to our room the hotel had left us complimentary champagne and chocs and an anniversary card a lovely gesture. We realised we had forgot to pack plug adaptors so we asked reception where we could purchase them and they informed us they could lend us one. The hotel staff in particularly Wendy and Naomi couldn't do enough for us and we felt that nothing was too much trouble for them - a big thanks to them. The hotel is in a perfect position for all the sights just across from the river and Charles bridge and in walking distance of the old town, lesser town, castle etc. We had breakfast at the hotel restaurant one morning it cost about £8 for english breakfast and was well worth the money. We ordered room service breakfast one morning and this was superb so we could enjoy it at leisure on our balcony. The first night we ate at what looked like a nice romantic restaurant called Hotel of the Black Star - DO NOT EAT HERE! We were served mussels which were still half frozen which we obviously sent back and they tried to charge us for them, when my husband refused to pay for them they threatened the police on us! The second night we ate at the rooftop restaurant of the Hotel U Prince this is a must you have views of the square with the astronomical clock and views of the castle lit up at night it is a very romantic setting and the food is among the best I have ever had and at a very reasonable price about £80 for 2 courses and a bottle of wine. The third night we went to see Carmen at the national theatre (our first time at the opera) a real treat. All in all Prague is a beautiful city and the Pachtuv Palace is a very special hotel that I would recommend to anyone, especially if you are celebrating a special occasion.

Room Tip: Room 209 has the only balcony overlooking river.
