We were initially a bit apprehensive in booking this hotel as despite having travelled a bit the past few years, Mamaison was not a name we were familiar with. But now I can positively say that staying here is probably one of the best decisions we have ever made in our life!
To start with, the location is great, right at the (peaceful) end of the Charles Bridge, providing not just an easy access to the Old Town, but also a unique local atmosphere around. The hotel was formerly a royal residence and everything from the manicured courtyards, to the prevalent pieces of arts, from the large opening windows to the elegant wooden furnishings, the whole atmosphere transports you back to the medieval days (save the espresso machine, hot plates & large flat screen TV). We were also lucky to have our suite overlook the bridge (with a good glimpse of the Prague Castle in the horizon).
But even those pale in comparison to the consistently great service we encountered throughout the stay. From the quick e-mail response we got pre-arrival (we had to change our limo pick-up time as we missed our connection in Vienna, and we received the reconfirmation - with no penalties - within minutes!) to the chatty but unobtrusive Reception & Bell Desk staff who went great lengths explaining the local attractions upon our arrival (at 4 AM!), everything was just wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!

It is interesting how many hotel companies decide to invest a huge chunk of money in state-of-the-art facilities to get themselves on the headlines, but compromise on the quality of the staff they recruit and the training these people receive, thus shying away from the true essence of hospitality itself. Pachtuv Palace, as we see it, is an exception.
Yes, we have stayed in more luxurious hotels where everything seems to be covered in gold dust, but as far as hospitality is concerned, the Pachtuv Palace far outweighs many other.More
