“Stay here!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2013

This hotel, located right off the Charles Bridge, was perfect. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a suite, overlooking the Charles River. The room was beautiful, the location perfect, close enough for an easy walk to Old Town Square, but quiet enough to feel relaxed.

We stayed here after getting engaged. We normally book chain hotels that we are familiar with e.g Hilton but decided to take a chance with this hotel! And we are so glad we did. We were in the attic room with view of Charles bridge! This wasn't a room it was an apartment! The bedroom was huge, the bath tub was huge and it had a lounge which again was huge.
We felt at home, and were treated very well by all staff! This hotel is close to all tourist attractions, we didn't eat back fast at the hotel but there is a lovely little cafe nExt door.

Unlike other reviewers that found the attic unsatisfactory, having stayed in suite 308 I have no complaints. There is no view, but the place felt cozy and warm like having your own little castle space in Prague. There was an elevator on this side to take you up.

The best part of hotel is it's location - about 5 minutes walk to the Charles Bridge. Service was a bit slow when we arrived at check-in but the staff took care of us with a welcome glass of champagne. Other than that no other service complaints.

If you want a view, make sure you request it. If you're more of a get-out-and-see the view kind of person, you'll love this place.

Room Tip: If you want a view make sure you request it.

We were warmly welcomed with a glass of bubbly, and brochures on things to do, by Sarka after having travelled non-stop from New Zealand for over 38 hours on a combination of planes, trains, buses and foot! We were kindly allowed to check-in two hours early, which was gratefully appreciated. Adam helped us with our bags and showed us around the room.
This was our ‘splurge’ hotel on our three week holiday in Central Europe (it was still cheaper than anywhere we stayed in Germany or Austria!), and we were more than glad we’d spent the money. Our room (Room 308 - Junior Suite) was very spacious and quiet and the view of Charles Bridge and across the river to the Castle District was spectacular.
We had a mini-kitchen (very cleverly hidden inside a bit wardrobe like cupboard), a separate toilet off the entrance way, a separate bathroom, a comfy bed, and most importantly our room was toasty and warm. Prague was absolutely freezing our whole visit (late March), and a bit of a shock to us coming from warmer climes! The wifi (which I believe is individual to each room) was very strong and consistent, the best we came across of anywhere we stayed on this trip.
The whole building is beautifully decorated, with stunning artworks and sculptures dotted throughout. Nice touches like plushy warm bathrobes, a stand of umbrellas at the front door and chocolates left on the bed each night helped lift this place a level above your standard hotel.
The location of the hotel would be hard to beat. A short 5 minute walk from the nearest metro stop (Staromestska), 2 minutes to Charles Bridge (great for a very early walk to beat the hordes of tourists!) and only 5 minutes through the alleyways to the Old Town Square.
Although not included in our booking, we had breakfast one morning in the restaurant adjacent (Amade). This was the only slight on our stay here. Although not bad, it was nothing special considering how expensive it was. We ate a-la-carte, and had a waitress who appeared disinterested, and forgot items from our meal although they were listed on the menu. There are plenty of great restaurants nearby to choose from. We had dinner one night from Bellevue (right in front of Pachtuv) which was amazing, and also ate twice at School Restaurant next door (breakfast and then dinner again on the same day!).
After a very friendly check out, we were able to leave our bags for the day, and then allowed to wait in the lobby for a few hours later on in the evening before we left to catch our train (the overnight train through to Budapest which departed at 12.05am).
We loved our 3 day stay at Pachtuv Palace and dream about one day returning to Prague (where we would definitely stay here again!) If you're looking for something special - we highly recommend Pachtuv Palace.

Room Tip: Splurge and go for a room with a view of the river and castle - you won't be disappointed!

Stayed a week the entire atmosphere of the hotel was perfect, service friendly and helpful. The suite giving a perfect view of the river. From airport pickup to departure every request was handled very professionally by all the staff, making our visit a delightful experience. I would certainly return without hesitation, and recommend it to friends.

Room Tip: The Deluxe suite with view is worth the small extra expense.

We stayed at the Pachtuv Palace for four days in the beginning of June. We arrived shortly after the Vltava began to subside after the flooding. We were greeted by a glass of champagne after our long overnight flight from the US. Every member of the staff was exceptionally kind, friendly and helpful. We had booked a junior suite and were delighted to be informed that our room had been upgraded. Our suite was huge--bigger than our first apartment- with two big windows which opened to an amazing view of the river, with the Castle district and Charles bridge. The waters were still very high and the sound of the rushing river was beautiful. We kept the windows open whenever possible to hear the sounds and soak in the view. The living area was nicely appointed with a sofa, side chair and a lovely chaise lounge. There was also a mini-kitchen with sink, refrigerator and mini bar, coffee maker, dishes and utensils. The bathroom had both a large tub and a separate shower, with a separate toilet area located in the hall. The hotel is very nicely located, within walking distance of The Charles Bridge (which was unfortunately closed to foot traffic during our visit) and the old town area and shopping. However, being a few blocks away from the main tourist areas, it was quiet at night. Vaclav Havel's theatre is located next door and there are many interesting sites which were pointed out to us by our private guide. I frequently took myself outside of the tourist areas and got deliberately lost walking through back streets, even during the nighttime hours. I never felt that the area was dangerous, even when walking alone for several blocks down deserted streets. The breakfast was simple, nothing special. The hotel seemed to be fairly empty during our few days and we noticed that the breakfast choices diminished during the quietest days. However, we felt the selection was adequate. The waiter offered to make eggs to order, but we were satisfied with the offerings. We asked for dinner recommendations each night and each of the restaurants suggested by the concierges were excellent. If you like boutique hotels in lovely surroundings, you will not be disappointed by The Pachtuv Palace.

Room Tip: Ask for a junior or deluxe suite with a view.

We stayed here last week at the end of our 15 day European tour. We arrived after 11pm to the hotel and were shown to our room, which was in the old building. We climbed 3 flights of stairs (NO ELEVATOR) to arrive at the attic of the building which had been transformed into a hotel room. Low wood beams throughout the rooms including in the bathroom. The few windows were high, and small. Zero view of anything. Avoid room 312 in the old building. Having said this, once we complained the staff was very nice to include our breakfast, reduce our bill and offer to take us to the airport as compensation. We were fine with that and enjoyed the rest of our stay. The point here is that this is a beautiful hotel with a great location, I would recommend it making sure you are booked in the new building with views of the Prague Castle. The staff is very freindly and professional and will try to accomodate any special request.

Dear Valued Guest from Miami,

I would like to thank you for taking your time to complete the review regarding your recent stay at Pachtuv Palace here on the Tripadvisor.

I was concerned to hear about your disappointment with your room upon arrival. Pachtuv Palace is a very architectonically unique building coming from the 18th century. As it is under the Unesco protection the reconstruction was under strict supervision of authorities and I understand that some features can seem odd to some travelers (beams, no elevators in some parts, etc.). What some travelers appreciate, others can find weird. I am happy the reception solved your dissatisfaction in a timely efficient manner and your stay wasn’t influenced by our first choice of your room.

We are happy that you overall enjoyed your stay, especially the location of our hotel, the hotel itself and our staff members. Thank you for awarding us with 4* and I truly hope to welcome you back soon.

With Kindest Regards,

Lucie Dagan
