“Outstanding service at a charming hotel in a superb location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 January 2010

Have just returned from a New Year break at the Pachtuv Palace and would thoroughly recommend it. The hotel is a beautifully refurbished Palace that manages to combine intimacy with spaciousness. Our room was in the most basic category ("Deluxe"); but was one of the largest and best equipped that we have stayed in.

What really made the hotel special, however, was the unobtrusive attentiveness of the staff, particularly the ladies on the front desk; whether for restaurant recommendations (spot-on), providing metro tickets or just general advice.

Would definitely stay again.

We just sadly left the Pachtuv Palace and Prague on the first leg of our Holiday. My daughter had been living in Prague for the fall semester and we planned our Christmas around her completion of school. Our second half of the trip is Rome. I can honestly say that even with the very cold weather the first day (about 3 degrees) we utterly enjoyed the quaint city and especially the Pachtuv Palace. The service was first class all the way. We originally had a two story 2 bedroom. This was a huge area with a full foyer and separate kitchen, dining area and livingroom. Something was wrong with the heat and they moved us swiftly to another 2 Bedroom with a magnificient view of the River and Prague Castle. This second unit was not as large as the first but still very large even for American standards and enormous for European. 2 full modern baths, free internet, flat screen tvs in both bedrooms and the livingroom, kitchenette in a large armoire. I am not doing the vastness of these room any justice, just trust me they are big. Big comfortable King size beds. The car service from the hotel was wonderful, extremely professional. Beware: The taxis in Prague are sketchy at best. The Christmas concert we attended and the restaurant afterward were fantastic, all set up by the hotel.
Book this hotel, you will not regret it.

We stayed at Pachtuv Palace for four nights and had a wonderful time. The room was spacious and comfortable with a nice ambience for relaxing and recuperating between daytime exploring and evening entertaining.
The staff were always friendly and helpful.
We organise a car from the hotel to pick us up from the airport, though relatively expensive (800 crowns compared to 500 for a taxi ) it does make for a hassle free and comfortable arrival to the city with the driver waiting for your flight to carry your bags.
We booked through an agent and got a very good price for B & B. The breakfast was good but I would not have paid the 20 euro a head for it.
The position of the hotel is ideal with every sight in Prague within comfortable strolling distance, as well as numerous good restaurants and bars selling the wonderful czech beer.
Overall a very good priced quality hotel.

If you want a place that takes care of all your "comforts", this is the place! The hotel is a former palace and the reconstruction into a hotel was done very well.

Here are the reasons we like the Pachtuv Palace:

1) Location - 1 minute walk to the Charles Bridge; 5 minutes to Old Town Square; great coffee shops, restaurants and shopping all in the immediate neighborhood.

2) Oversized rooms by anyone's standards, especially for Europe! Clean large bathroom (with great water pressure) with a separate WC. Comfy king-size bed. Great lighting.

3) Kitchenette built into an armoire (brilliant!!!). Includes a 2 burner ceramic stovetop, microwave, coffeemaker, fridge, cookware, plates, silverware and sink. AND housekeeping does the dishes for you!

4) The view - we stayed in a junior suite #408 and the view of the river, Charles Bridge and Castle was phenomenal.

5) The peace and quiet. Although being so close to the "center" of Old Town, you are tucked away and the insulated windows reduce all noise. Also the hotel itself is quite quiet, well insulated.

6) The staff: friendly, helpful, gives you your own space. All around great.

7) Free Internet; although its wired, either bring a cat 5 or just ask reception and they will deliver a cat5 cable to the room.

Please note one other thing... for a wonderful, quaint, unpretentious Czech restaurant, go to the Rainer Maria Rilke (RM Rilke) Restaurant at Karoliny Svetle 25; literally 1 minute walk from the hotel on the same street as Pachtuv. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is very special. We had an appetizer of grilled vegetables with goat cheese and walnuts in a cranberry/port wine reduction and the "Old Prague Plate" - a sampling of wonderful local dishes. It was over-the-top delicious! We thoroughly enjoyed it. The proprietor was very friendly and humble - you can tell he takes pride in what he does! If you don't go there you will surely miss a treat!

I can't say enough positive things about this hotel. It was one of the best places I've ever stayed, including Ritz-Carltons. The room was incredible, the staff top-notch, the location ideal. And it was a bargain too.

When I was looking for a hotel a few weeks ago, I used the reviews on this site to narrow down the list. I'm so glad I followed the recommendations and booked this hotel. On the plane ride home I even recommended it to other passengers, I was that excited about it.

If you're looking for a great hotel in Prague, this is it.

Spent over a week at the Pachtuv Palace and recommend it highly. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the staff is great and it is in a wonderful location. I had everything I could ask for in a hotel and at a very reasonable price. I don't know when I'll return to Prague, but there's no question that I will stay there if I do find myself in Prague.

This small 50 room hotel is located within walking distance of the Charles Bridge and directly on the Vltava River. Each room is like a small aprtment and the warmth, friendliness and knowledge of the staff make it feel like home.

We stayed here for 4 nights and the staff assisted us with everything from dinner reservations, tours, washing clothes to arranging car service. All requests were made to feel as if ours was the most important request to be handled by the staff.

A five star recommendation to this Prague Jewel.
