“The Alchymist must not be missed”
Reviewed 14 December 2008

We were looking for something completely different, and found it in the Alchymist Hotel.
As seasoned travellers we have stayed in many top class hotels but this is as good as anything we have experienced to date.
The service was personal and excellent without being over the top. Nothing was too much trouble: the Ecsotica spa was possibly the best we have ever experienced in terms of therapy and ambience, and the Aquarius restaurant was a pleasure in every respect.
The Alchymist is perfectly located, just a few minutes from the river and the main hub of Prague activity, and within easy walking distance of everything to be seen.
Our five star rating is full justified, and would say to anyone visiting this beautiful city not to look anywhere further than the Achymist.

We spent two nights in this hotel on our first trip to Prague. Arriving was very impressive, we had a guided tour of the hotel and were shown where everything was before being taken to our room.

Breakfast was the normal continental breakfast buffet with the addition of a number of dishes you could order free of charge from the menu (as well as other dishes you could pay for). Dinner in the restaurant came to about £110 for three courses for two people without drinks. The staff were overly attentive and the music was amusing (not entirely for the right reasons – think easy listening songs being murdered by a pub singer playing an organ!).

The spa is very luxuriously decorated and the treatments were good.

The hotel is in a very safe area and surrounded by embassies (every car that comes up the street is searched by police). It is a five minute walk to the Charles Bridge and a 20 minute walk up hill to Prague Castle so is excellently placed for walking around the city.

My wife and I stayed at the hotel at the end of November 2008. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The location of the hotel and the in-house facilities are excellent. The bedroom was spacious, comfortable and well equipped. Breakfast was excellent. We are looking forward to our next visit

I stayed in this hotel from the 5th to the 8th of December 2008 with my girlfriend and it was absolutely beautiful hotel which we both loved. The staff were fantastic and really helpful and we really couldn't fault this hotel in anyway.

I would recommend it to anyone.

It is definately the staff that make this hotel such an extra special place to visit.

We stayed here last year and returned this year to be given an amazing room (more like a small apartment) and a bottle of wine to welcome us back. It was such a lovely thought.

The staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough to help us. My boyfriend being German had to watch Bayern Munich play Hoffenheim on the Friday night and the girl at the front desk called around a number of bars to see where it was being shown. So helpful and thoughtful of her.

We had massages again in the Spa and they were wonderful.

A big huge thank you to all at the Alchymist for making our return visit so special and we are already looking forward to coming back again next year.

The hotel is very well located, in a nice and quiet area. The centre of Prague is within a walking distance, crossing the bridge.
Hotel staff is professional and friendly.
Service in general is in accordance with a 5star international stantart.
Breakfast is in accordance of what we may expect from this type of hotel,
Rooms are clean and confortable, and the spa is very good.
Having seen other hotels in Prague, this is definitely the right place to stay, with a great value for money.

I booked this hotel on a whim, via the lastminute.com website. It turned out to be a fantastic choice for both location and sheer luxury. As it was a special occaision, we arrived to an upgraded room with champagne & chocolates. The hotel is a restored bohemian palace, with a luxurious underground spa and fitness centre. We found the staff to be very helpful and polite. I even manged to secure tickets to a classical concert through reception via a mobile phone conversation whilst we were touring the city. The room service was also excellent but very expensive. Overall, this was the perfect hotel, minutes from Charles Bridge and the castle. The only downside, is smoking in the hotel public areas, including their tiny cafe, which does spoil the occasion. However; smoking is common in Prague...everywhere!! In essence, smoking aside, this is a real treasure of a hotel and Prague is a perfect romantic getaway.
