“We were Kings and Queens!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 December 2010

I wanted to take my husband and friends to a special place for our 20th wedding-anniversary. We could not have picked a better spot for our occasion; the location, the building (just look at he pictures!), the atmosphere, the rooms, the fitness-centre / spa, the food and not to forget the always smiling and friendly staff. Adding it all together, we were treated like Kings and Queens, which made our trip to Prague like a dream!

Luxury hotel, first class welcome and staff was very efficient.
The decor is picturesque in baroque style, beautiful interiors.
Excellent comfort.
The location of the hotel is central, close to most points of interest, but at the same time quiet. It was an unforgetable stay.
We would recommend the Alchymist Hotel to anyone.

As soon as we saw the hotel, we new we had made the right choise. I loved the outside architecture and especially the inside one, very italianish. We felt as we were in our bohemian house. The waiters were invisible, not disturbing at all, the hotel really felt ours.
The service was perfect, the same night we checked in, the receptionist found us tickets in the 2d raw of the Operah of Prague in order we could see "The sleeping beauty" ballet. One of the best performances ever, in one of the best places of Europe.
We rarely needed to ask something, everything was there. Personally I have seen a lot of hotels but this one was a confortable luxury.
The room was antique, as we wanted it. The bed was very confortable and the bathroom really spacious.
We went in the SPA only once, and the service was excellent. We were alone and I even fell asleep in the "thai-coach"
My friend had a thai massage and she said it one of the bests ever. The team was lovely, but always keeping a respectful distance. One night I was desperately looking for some cigarettes and one of the waiters went outside to find me a pack of them, I'll never forget it, it was very funny!

If there is something we regret, is that we couldn't stay more and had absolutely to get back to work...hope we'll get back there soon!

YOU WILL LOVE IT

The Alchymist was a lovely surprise to out trip. Centrally located and very welcoming with very friendly staff and nice extras such as the afternoon wine and cheese. Don't be put off by the police outside - its just due to the promixity of several Embassies in the same road. Would not hesitate recommending the hotel.

A good friend that lives in Prague recommended the hotel to us. It is quite amazing and stylish. Luxuriously looking, particulalrly if you like gold gilt...almost everywhere. The staff were charming and extremely helpful. Breakfasts great with English papers available to browse. Being on the same side of the river as the castle, and not in the Old town made the location quiet and relaxing. Only a 10 minute walk over the Charles bridge brings you into this wonderful heart of this wonderfully preserved city. We did wish our room was a little bigger so that we could walk more easily around the bed. We knew it was a boutique hotel with unusual room shapes so advice would be to check which one one you will be staying in. We booked a superiour room and whilst decorated in a sumptious way, we were disappointed that we had no where else to sit except on the bed! The bathroom was luxurious ...and now as I write this I realise that it was.nearly as big as the actual bedroom! The weekend was special and the hotel contributed to that feel too!

If you’re partial to the understated decor and muted shades of the modern five-star establishment, the Alchymist is not for you. Pass through the wrought iron gates and you enter a baroque fantasy where chandeliers hang above swimming pools and rich reds and golds evoke the splendours of a Venetian palazzo. It is opulent, it is ostentatious, it is grandiose, yet thanks to the friendliness of the staff it doesn’t intimidate. In fact, given its formal style the Alchymist achieves a surprisingly high level of intimacy. The complementary cheese and wine tasting is a masterstroke when it comes to creating ambience and ensuring that the magnificent salon becomes an early evening focal point, whilst the breakfast buffet (with inclusive a la carte options) offers the choice and the quality you’d expect. The spa is a great place to relax after a day’s sightseeing (although the transition from ancient Rome to exotic Balinese is a little surprising even for the Alchymist!). Our room with its marble bathroom and snow covered private terrace only served to enhance the sense of having retreated to a more civilised age.
All in all this was a refreshing change from the blandness that so often masquerades as five-star hospitality. Whilst its magnificence might not be to everyone’s taste we would heartily recommend the Alchymist for its individuality, its comfort and its service and look forward to repeating this unique experience soon.

What an amazing hotel. Our first trip to Prague as a Birthday present and having spent a long time researching the perfect hotel, we could not have been more delighted with The Alychymist. From the moment you walk through the entrance to the hotel's beautiful courtyard you are treated like Royalty. The standard of service and friendliness of all staff is outstanding - a far cry from many UK similarly rated hotels.

Some lovely touches such as champagne on arrival and complimentary cheese and wine in the extremely opulent and luxurious lobby every evening make your stay even more of a delight.

The food served in the restaurant has to be tasted to be believed and you must make time to enjoy the Spa which is like stepping into another world of beauty, art and luxury.

We walked everywhere on our 4 day stay as you the hotel is ideally located for everything you would want to visit and a plethora of great restaurants, cafes and traditional pubs.

We cannot wait to go back and have already recommended to friends and family to stay at the wonderful Alchymist.

Thanks to everyone at the hotel once again for such a fantastic stay.
