“A few hiccups but all in all a great hostel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 December 2012

Overall this hostel had the potential to be perfect.

Our hiccups were that we had specifically asked for a quiet room and were told the apartments were quiet so we paid extra and booked one of those (only £56 so still amazing price for the great facilities) however our apartment was over a bar (not belonging to the hostel) and although you couldn't hear anything from the bar the noise from the street with drunk customers leaving the bar was horrendous so we had very little sleep. A bad recommendation from the hostel but then again they cant really be blamed for outside noise in a city on a friday night, so we did not get too upset.

Our second hiccup was that our heating had not been switched on before we arrived so we were checked into a freezing cold room (considering it was minus 12 degrees outside we were not happy) we then thought we would get a hot shower to warm up while the heating from the radiators we switched on ourselves warmed up only to find the hot water was luke warm and ran out after 5 minutes! We reported this to reception and were helped by a very charming gentleman and the problem was fixed although the room did not fully warm up until the next morning (it was a very large room) so it did ruin our only night in this beautiful hostel.

However the breakfast did rather make up for it which was fantastic - the best breakfast we have ever had, better than luxury hotels we have stayed in.
We haven't been put off and would stay again as I'm sure our hiccups would not happen again.

Room Tip: Dont stay in a second floor apartment if you want a quiet night as the bar noise below will wake you...

This hotel is punching above its weight from Vladislav at the front desk who greeted us and took us to our room. Which was an apartment across the road with lots of space, clean and all items working. I thought it was strange that breakfast was limited to 10 people sessions, until we went down and found that there was a good breakfast spread and a cook to make omelets and pancakes for you. Both Ladies were excellent cooks. One small problem with the lift that form part of the apartment and Indenku (apologies on the spelling) at reception quickly got onto the management to have it fixed that day.
We extended our stay for a further two days and found it easy to get to the Castle tram 22 (they sell tickets at reception), walk into the old city and go to the bone church by train.

Room Tip: try and get room 5 d is a double bed apartment on the 5th floor across from the main hotel. Lots of...

Really nice, clean, modern hostel with exceptional shower (!) and amazing breakfast. The location is within walking distance to many bars, restaurants and sights, and near the bus and metro lines. I would absolutely stay here in again on return to Prague!

Hi,

I stayed 4 nights alone at Miss Sophies when I was in Prague attending the conference.

It's probably THE hotel where I have stayed I have got the most value for my money.
I was very sceptic due to the incredible low price, but it was pleasanlty surprised.
The room looked just like in the photos, and it was nice, clean and modern.
Also, the hotel is non-smoking which was important to me. It's still allowed to smoke inside in Prague!!!! And the hotel breakfast is so cozy and nice, just a totally different experience than any other hotel I've stayed at.
You ahve to book in advance, since there is only room for 10 at a time. You sit around a nice "bar ish" kind of table where the chef is in the middle cooking for you! Ypou get nice fresh omelette, scrambeled eggs, bacon, crepet, american pancakes, you name it! there is tons of fresh fruit, tea, cereal toppings +++ And it all takes place in this cosy small room with brick walls with nice music playing in the background!

And yes, it also right by the metro and it takes 5 - 8 min to walk to one of the main shopping streets near the "muzeum" metro station.

Miss Sophies is just a wonderful place to stay!

The girl on the reception was very helpful, she showed us on the map what's worth seeing in Prague with instructions how to get there. Room was very stylish with great bathroom. Maybe one medium towel for hair would be nice. We had little troubles to find the place as it's located on a small side street and the name of the hotel is not visible. Overall I liked to stay there and would choose it again.

Room Tip: we stayed in room 7, it was very nice, but we could feel the smell from the breakfast a little. Whic...
