“Great City Centre Hotel”
Reviewed 24 December 2010

My partner and I stayed at this great city centre hotel in early December. It had been really cold but when we arrived it was super snowy and because so cold in the UK didn't seem so bad. Hotel was great, reception so helpful. We didn't use the transfer as we landed at 10.30 and so were in between shuttles, but the bus and train to the centre is incredibly straightforward and soooooo cheap!!!

I thought that the tiled flooring would be an issue so we took slippers, but we had a fab room on the top floor and given the pavements outside we were glad to have the tiled flooring as we would leave all our walking boots in the lobby area of our room and then the main bedroom floor was clean and nice. If there were a carpet I reckon people would walk around the whole room and it would be dirty. Whether on the lower floors it would be noisy I wouldn't know.

Our room was definitely not smoky - reception asked us whether we wanted smoking room or non and we chose non.

If you want to see Prague this hotel is in a perfect location. You don't need to purchase tram and train tickets as the hotel is so central, although using the Prague tram system is an experience not to be missed.

I would return to Prague tomorrow and would definitely return to this fab hotel.

My Wife and I stayed at Caesar Palace for 4 nights, could not fault the Hotel on anything, the room was very clean and warm, powerful shower, very nice Breakfast, friendly and helpful staff Only a 15 minute walk to Charles Bridge and the Old Town Square. There is a great Thai Restaurant across the road. Would not hesitate to recommend this Hotel.

Firstly the Free Shuttle bus was fantastic and was a great start to a care free holiday. No worries on taxi's or buses or the metro.
I stayed in the hotel with my mum so in the booking I asked for a twin room and we got a standard twin room which was very spacious.
The rooms were clean and very warm (sometimes too warm but turn off the radiators and open a window and u will be ok)
The breakfast was continental, but plenty of breads, eggs, cheese and ham to choose from, also a good selection of fruit, tea and coffee.
The bar was maybe a little overpriced compared to the bars outside, but was convenient to have a drink before going to bed.
But the hotel is in a very good location, it is in walking distance of most places, myself and mum only used the funicular train when it came to public transport.
Also there is a great Thai restuarant opposite (lemon tree) very good prices and food, also the cafe royal serves really good beer and food.
Would stay here again :)

We found the hotel and especially our room exceptionally clean. The room was comfortable and spacious, the only downside was that the radiators were knocking or whistling a lot of the time. The shuttle from airport to hotel was most welcome, but please be aware, there is no return shuttle to the airport, but it was easy once we'd been given good directions from the staff. Breakfast was good, the staff were pleasant and there was no noise at night. A thoroughly comfortable and enjoyable stay.

We were greeted kindly, given a choice of rooms because we asked for an upgrade, and were helped with directions and tourist information as needed (with a smile and kind word). The room was clean with a spacious bathroom. The tile floor in the room was just a bit off putting, especially if the person above you wears heels, but the floor was impeccably clean - bring your house slippers for a homey feel. Breakfast was ample, tasty, varied and happily attended to. The hotel bar was spacious and well appointed - we enjoyed drinks whilst lounging on the leather sofas. The hotel is on a tram line and is easy walking distance to 2 metro stations. Prague coupled with the Hotel Caesar Palace is a fantastic get away

Where to start? I'll start with the good points. The breakfast was ok, the satff were LOVELY and the location is very good. However, the beds are like bricks, they don't fit the mattresses and they push two beds together to make a "double bed." The bottom of the bed is too high to be able to see the T.V. so watching it in bed is not an option and the whole place reeks of smoke.
The "free shuttle" is only from the airport and only runs until 8pm. So, if you arrive late or want to get to the airport from the hotel it would cost you £30.
My husband and I go to Prague every year for our anniversary, next year we won't stay here.

We visited for 4 nights for my 30th birthday, Monday-Friday.

We arrived at the hotel at around 11am following an early morning flight, fully expecting to be turned away because the room wasn't available.... but to our pleasant surprise we were given our room key and shown up immediately.

The hotel is completely uncarpeted, with tiled floors, but we rarely noticed any noise. Perhaps if you were in your room when the cleaning trolley went around, but we weren't.

The hotel is walking distance from everything you would wish to see in the centre of Prague, including Prague Castle about a mile and a half away. It's a steep hill though!

Food in the hotel was 'alright'. We did not use the minibar in the room; prices were steeper than in shops but about the same as the bars in the city centre. Breakfast was a buffet of hot and cold food; toast, scrambled egg, ham, cheese, croissants, fruit, yoghurt etc. It was not something I would have paid a lot for, but as it was included it was better than nothing.

We ate the first night in the Thai restaurant across the road from the hotel, it was 600Ck for two of us, including beer and tip. Most dinners were about this price, including burgers in the Hard Rock Cafe. The only expensive meal we had was in a fantastic Italian (Taverna Toscana) across the road from the Hard Rock - this was 1,200CK (£45) but it was the best meal ever, and we did have starter, main, and wine.

I would suggest a Lonely Planet guide to get you around and make sure you don't miss anything. Some of the churches are a must-see for the architecture, and definitely take a camera.

It was -2 to -5 whist we were there, but the taxi driver advised us it had been -14 to -20 the week before, so wrap up well! The taxi driver that took us to the hotel on arrival also arranged to pick us up to go back to the airport, and arrived spot on the pre-arranged time of 8am. He also gave a 20% discount on return fare (700CK to hotel, 550Ck to airport).

I would definitely be happy to stay at this hotel again should I return to Prague.
