Myself and my friend are inter-railing around Europe so we chose this accommodation because it was cheap and close to the centre. We have stayed in a lot of hostels over the last month and very used to basic accommodation. Though what happened at Casa Italia Residence Praga was ridiculous. When we first arrived Patrick was rude and unwelcoming but he showed us the room and it was comfortable but smelt damp. The first night was fine apart from the air con blowing out warm air. On our last night there was quite a bad storm outside myself and my friend luckily were in the room at the time because water began pouring into the room. We had to quickly pick up our belongings before the entire room was under 3 inches of water. We called Patrick to come sort out the flood and he said he would send someone, Alex turned up at our door and was lovely and helpful. On the other hand Patrick wouldn't enter the room as it would ruin his shoes! After 10 minutes in a dark, smelly and wet room we gathered our belongings and tried to find Patrick. He gave us a replacement apartment and refused to talk to us any more about the situation. Once I had changed into dry clothes I decided to call Patrick or Marco (the owners/managers) to try and work something out as most of our clothes were soaking wet. Marco hung up on me when I mentioned the flooded apartment and Patrick said I should discuss the problem with Marco - we were getting no where. Finally after 2 hours Patrick returned to the apartment and offered money to wash our clothes at the laundrette as we leave tomorrow to go to Krakow but he refused to give any kind of refund even though in our new apartment we didn't have air con. Never before have I been treated in such a bad way and received such appalling service. I would not recommend Casa Italia to anyone. Having said all of that about the poor help / the lack of help we received from management, Alex the handy man who first came to our aid us was so helpful, kind and tried his best to communicate with us to explain what had happened. He kept bringing more items we had left behind in the flood. If it had not been for him I would have felt completely alone and distressed by what had happened. If you want to be treated like rubbish and disrespected then by all means stay here, but if you want good service and kind, caring staff do not stay here!!!!!!
