“Perfect Prague Budget Hotel”
Reviewed 15 December 2009

Paid $138. total for 4 nights after Borders 15% off coupon applied to hotels.com rate. Dorm style layout. Single size bed, comfortable mattress, extremely comfortable pillow and down comforter. Cozy warmth, needed to open the windows for a few minutes a couple of mornings for slight cool off, it might have been possible to adjust the radiators instead. Very nice bathroom for budget hotel. Good shower, real hot water, not the type where you have to turn the water dial all the way to the left to get warm water. Also very good breakfast for budget hotel, good selection and some variety day to day. Only the slightest traffic noise once in a while. I'd give it a 9.5 out of 10 on the quiet scale. Also the other visitors were respectful and quiet. Very friendly and helpful staff. You can almost touch the hotel when you come out of the metro station. Large modern mall with Tesco 5 minute walk, great for budget snacks and lunches. Mall also has internet cafe and several coffee places. In a real Prague neighborhood, felt 100% safe. If you take the #100 bus from the airport, make sure you are at the stop where the #100 bus goes to the metro (it is clearly marked). 50 feet further away a #100 bus stops and it doesn't go to the metro (also clearly marked). Also, follow other posters directions for walking out of the metro, however, at the "bus" exit, turning right means you have to wak up lots of stairs (and almost touch the hotel when you walk out), turning left you can take an escalator up and then turn around at the top of the escalator and you are a 50 foot walk to the hotel. My last visit I stayed at budget hotel in new town just outside of old town, Akcent is far better and much less money as the other hotel raised their rates.

I must have studied TripAdvisor reviews for weeks before finally settling on the Akcent Hotel for our first couple of nights in Prague. We booked through a Tip Advisor link to Orbits, and selected a regular double at about $48 USD per night, tax and other fees included. We arrived last night and I am writing this review from the hotel room now. Incredibly, here is the Speedtest results of our hardwired Internet connection in our room:

Download: 24.74 Mbps
Upload: 23.72 Mbps

We enjoyed our first breakfast in the restaurant this morning. We agreed that it was very good. We both enjoyed the fine selection of breads, ham, cheese, eggs, sausages, yogurt, coffee, and tea. We think it is better than what you might find in many a Comfort Inn. The reception is friendly and English speaking. We have already been given directions to sights to see and they confirmed they will keep our luggage for us tomorrow after we check out while we await our overnight train trip to Krakow, Poland. Our bed is lower than we are used to in the States, but quite comfortable. We are in room 707 and have a nice view over the bus terminus (not exactly scenic) with an extended view out to the city.

We had a wonderful dinner last night at a restaurant about a block away called the "Grooto." It is in the basement of a building with brick pillars and subdued lighting. They have a menu in English, Czech, German, and Italian. Service was inattentive with only 1 person acting as waitress, cashier, and bus person. However, the food was delicious and the wine and beer was great!

Location: It could not be easier to find this hotel. At the airport there is a kiosk where you purchase train and bus tickets. Tell them you are going to the Andel Metro stop. They will direct you to the #100 bus. 15 minutes on the bus will take you to the yellow line terminus. Ride that about 9 stops to Andel station. When you exit the train go to the left. There are signs hanging that will tell you where the exit leads. Look for one that shows "Stroupeznickeho," walk up the stairs and you are literally at the door to the hotel. If you have luggage you don't want to lug up the stairs you can go to the left and ride the escalator up to the Bus terminus and just walk across the partking lot. You will be able to see the Hotel when you come out of the subway station, look for signs indicating a casino, billiards, etc...

The hotel is centrally located. Transport, as noted in other reviews, is readily available with the subway underneath, and multiple tram and bus lines within a block. There are also a number of clubs and restaurants in the area. Our first night walking around we found a Salsa, Merengue dance club about three blocks away. We were tired from the trip and did not feel like paying the 100 crowns to enter but it was kind of a surprise and the club was hopping (although small), which is probably not surprising as it was Saturday night.

Overall, we are enjoying our time in this hotel. We will certainly have something to compare when we return later this week to a room at the Hilton, Old TOwn. Perhaps I'll update with a comparison next weekend.

Happy travels everyone, you won't go wrong with this hotel.

My family and I spent 3-nights in November in this hotel.
What a find it was! So very reasonably priced and easily living up to its 3-star rating - if not more!
We had an enormous (triple) room which was well equipped and very pleasantly decorated plus a terrace the full length of the room. The hotel only has 53 rooms and is on the 6th floor of what was probably an office building. The security aspect is also good and one that I haven't seen before - one has to use their room key-card in the lift to access the floor on which the rooms are located.
The hotel is superbly located for touring with a metro station immediately outside the front door and a bus station across the street. A 5-minute walk away is a great new shopping centre with plenty of (very reasonably priced) eating establishments on the 3rd floor.
The Old and New Towns (across the river) and the beautiful castle are all within comfortable walking distance of the hotel. Plenty of other restaurants in easy walking distance

Stayed here for three nights. Arrived at 11am. Despit check in time not being until 2pm, they contacted the cleaner who prepared our pre booked room which was ready in ten minutes and spotless. The triple bedded room was large with a small balcony, Sofa, mini bar, safe and plenty of room to move around. The bathroom was nice with a towel radiator and hair dryer.
The Hotel is adjacent to Andel Metro Station which gets you into the City in ten minutes. Nearby are shops and Bars but not so close as to be noisy.
Breakfast was buffet style with something for everyone and CNN TV on to let you catch up.
All the staff were very friendly. We asked for more pillows were brought up to us in minutes.
I can't fault this Hotel.

A regular traveller to Prague, Normally I stay in central hotels. On this occasion I decided on this hotel soley on price. On first seeing it as I arrived, I thought I hed made a great mistake. The Casino on the ground floor was offputing. But I need not have worried. The casino is quite separate, I never had any problem with noise. The rooms were excellent, secure, and quiet. I had room 747 which had no balcony. Quite large rooms. Excellent quality beds and linnen. Large bathroom with excellent strong shower. Soft new towels. There is tea making facilities in the room, but you must buy tea or coffee packages at reception. Only a few pennies. Air conditioning with remote. The metro station just outside is a bonus. It is simple to use, just the yellow line, couple of stops and you are in the city center. I spent 4 happy days in this hotel exploring Prague. All the staff were friendly and helpful. With the exception of the head bar lady, in the casino/bar. The staff and some of the guests were afraid of her. I got barked at, for standing at the wrong end of the bar!! And it was not nice to listen to her nagging at the younger workers there. But there are plenty of friendly bars and restaurants within 2 minutes walk of this hotel. All in all, I was happy here, and I would return.

Our room was huge, the sheets were the best we've ever had and the staff were superb!! We had a corner room over looking a street ( metro area). It is a stone throws away from the metro, and walking distance from other trams and shopping malls. A taxi fare from old town wasn't expensive either. It was wonderful, I fell in love with Prague!
