“Hotel Aurus”
Reviewed 9 August 2014

This is an small old hotel but is excellent nevertheless. The rooms are beautfully appointed with a genuine (not fabricated) old-world charm. I had a superior room, which was almost an apartment in itself; aside from the usual double bed there was an additonal pullout bed for a third person discreetly located as part of the furnishings.
The hotel is located in a very touristic part of Prague, so I has some concern about the noise level late at night. Surprisingly however, the windows however were all double glazed and the noise level was drastically reduced (very light sleepers may have a problem admittedly).
Charles Bridge is 5 minutes walk from the hotel , another 20 minutes walk will lead you to the castle and the cathedral. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

What a hotel, smack in the middle of the best part of Praha. Literally a 2 minute walk to Charles Bridge, and a 5 minute stroll through lovely cobblestone streets towards Old Town. We took the family suite (C), which was the largest room we've ever stayed in. There is a separate master bed (spacious with two closets) and full spacious bathroom, a living room with a pull out full queen size bed; and a sitting area that has a fold down single bed; as well as a foyer which allows you to stow away the suitcases; a small dining table. All the charm of old Bohemia in terms of furniture, fittings - and the comforts of modern life....aircon, tv, double-glazed windows (yes, it does stay noisy with the lovely chatter of tourists and residents outside through the night - but silent once you close the windows). The breakfast is excellent and the staff are super friendly. You can't get a better location than this. Just outside the door of this charming hotel are quaint bars, restaurants (all with streetside seating), bakeries, convenience shops, money change facilities..... We stayed for 3 nights and didn't once use public transportation as we could walk everywhere (took us 5 minutes to cross over Charles Bridge and another 20 to get up to Castle district). Highly recommend this place for couples and for family.

Room Tip: The suites are great - but only thing is that the aircon is only in the main bedroom so the other ma...

In May we went on a 7 week holiday through Europe and our first stop was Prague. After reading reviews we chose Hotel Aurus and we are so glad we did. The hotel is in a fantastic location, it's only a short walk one way to the old town and a short walk the other way to the Charles Bridge. The room was a great size and spotlessly clean. The bathroom had a big bath, vanity and toilet. Staff were very helpful with any enquirys we had and we would have no hesitation in staying at Hotel Aurus again should we visit Prague again.

This family owned hotel is right in the "thick of things" in the old city of Prague. Quaint old style large rooms of varying size are available with excellent facilities in all. The staff are excellent and happy to assist in every way. We would certainly return to hotel Aurus.

We are two couples visiting Prague for the first time. I think we found the best hotel in the city with the best staff. The hotel has charm, location, clean and comfortable rooms, with staff that understand how to provide the best customer service. Thank you for showing us your hospitality. We would definitely recommend and book your hotel again.

Room Tip: Just contact the staff, they are very reliable.

While this small hotel is very charming and in an ideal location, we were disappointed. The bathroom was modern and spacious but the shower was a real challenge. The rubber on the shower head was coming apart so water would squirt out in all directions, squirting in my eyes, squirting up over the glass door getting the ceiling and entire bathroom wet! I told the receptionist about it the first day and she said she "would look into it". Nothing was done. The twin bed turned out to be a wall pull-down that had a large wood frame above it so every morning when my son woke up, he hit his head on the wood piece that protruded over the bed. The double bed was very comfy, though, except for the little foam pillows which gave me a neck ache. I folded a blanket and used that for a pillow instead. For the price, we expected more. I would not stay here again.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room F. It faces Karlova and is very noisy all day and night. If you do stay there, b...
