“Fantastic hotel, fantastic location, we miss it!”
Reviewed 25 June 2014

We spent a long weekend in Prague in early June and stayed three nights at the hotel U Jezulatka. It was an exceptionally lucky choice. This was our first visit to Prague and the hotel played a large part in making it a fantastic trip.
The room was great. Spacious, fairly old fashioned, very comfortable, clean, with a great view out of the windows which look out on a quiet park and restaurant area next to the Charles Bridge.
The service even prior to arrival was exceptional. Friendly staff genuinely interested and wanting to help in any way. Very refreshing.
The location of this hotel is about as good as you can get in Prague. At least for us (two photographers there to see and photograph historic Prague) it was.
Everything was perfect.

Room Tip: Our room faced the castle and was great. I expect the river view is also great.

We visit Prague regularly as our son lives there, and decided to try the U Jezulatka after reading its good reviews. It is really close to Charles Bridge and we were worried it might be a bit noisy, but in fact it was quiet and we slept very well. The young female staff were all extremely helpful and friendly, and the welcome sparkling wine put us in a good mood immediately. We stayed 2 separate nights, one in a room with a view of the river and bridge, one with a view of the square and castle. Both furnished in antique style, but with lovely modern bathrooms. Breakfast was served overlooking the river and was good quality. A charming place full of atmosphere, and we would definitely return.

Room Tip: We preferred the larger room with a castle view of the two we stayed in.

Where does one begin with the "best kept secret" hotel directly next to the Charles Bridge. First the hospitality and service of the receptionist was beyond accommodating. The vaulted ceiling room was large with latched windows opening onto the river and the bankside restaurant below. The king bed perfectly supportive. The hotel faces a large courtyard where at the time a small Greek 3-day food festival was functioning. The hotel lunches and dinners served riverside were delicious...being riverside a major bonus!! But the best was the breakfast served in the hotel...make certain you make this every morning...oh my!!!!! AND one is 30 yds from walking across the bridge into Pragues historical old city...amazing location.

We began our summer holiday with two days in this hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful from our first internet contact many months ago. They arranged a driver to meet us at the airport, and we were able to add that (reasonable) charge to our hotel bill, so no worries had we had difficulty with an ATM at the airport. They were happy to give directions and suggestions, and we very much enjoyed the restaurant they recommended.
Our room was spacious and nicely laid out, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom large and well appointed. The bathtub was deep and included a hand-held shower.
The breakfasts were wonderful! Fresh fruit, meats and cheeses, breads and yogurts, and one morning there were freshly cooked hard boiled eggs. The coffee was very good for our tastes as well.

Room Tip: We stayed in an executive room on the first floor (one flight up from reception).

U Jezulatka is located on Kampa Island, backing up to Vltava (Moldau) River and right at the western end of the famous Karluvmost (Charles Bridge). The hotel's public spaces and the individual rooms are clean and nicely decorated. The location really can't be beat -- Just in front is a small plaza, and a flight of steps up onto the Charles Bridge; Prague Castle and St. Vitus Cathedral are in walking distance (uphill!) to the West; and Old Town Square (Stare Mesta) and Josefov are well within walking distance across the bridge and to the East.
The staff was courteous and extremely helpful, such as going out of the way to arrange our transporation to the train station when we reluctantly had to leave. The included breakfast was served in a bright, nicely appointed room with a typical European breakfast buffet, as well as offers by the staff to prepare fried or scrambled eggs.
The only drawback is the lack of an elevator (not uncommon in smaller European hotels) and our lovely room was on the top floor and I found clmbing three flights of steps with luggage to be a challenge.

Room Tip: Unless you are young and fit (not me), try for a room on a lower floor; on the other hand the view f...

We stayed here for three nights (4/27 - 4/30/2013), and really feel we received wonderful value for the price. The location - literally steps from the Charles Bridge - cannot be beat. We were in walking distance of all major attractions, shopping, restaurants, etc. Our room was cozy, clean, and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful, and made us feel very welcome. The breakfast buffet was simple yet plentiful and tasty. I would point out to travelers that if you have trouble with stairs (or maneuvering a lot of luggage up stairs), be sure to book a room on the 2nd or 3rd floor, as there is no elevator (no guest rooms at street level that I'm aware of). Our room was on the top floor, but this was not a problem for us, and we had a lovely view of the bridge facing towards the Old Town. We very much enjoyed our stay, and would definitely recommend this unique hotel to others.

Excuse the tardy review. We visited in August and I still have wonderful memories. It was one of those places you stay that have a tremendous impact on your enjoyment of your visit. We were traveling to celebrate our anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed every detail of lovely hospitality.

The hotel is as pretty as it is in the photos. The three story clock painting on the stairwell wall was fantastic, and the room was large and romantic - exactly matching its photo. We stayed in the executive room on the top floor facing the pretty little square and loved it. It had two floor to ceiling windows which we stood in to look up at the castle or watch the peaceful comings and goings below. The front rooms face the square and the back the bridge and river. Everything was spotless.

The breakfast was a little too good ;-). Wide selection of pastries, breads, meat/cheese, fruits and cereal, with eggs/omelets when requested. There is a small cafe out back on the river, we didn't get a chance to eat there but it did make the full array of beverages available at a little bar in reception.

My husband and I add our thanks to the exceptionally sweet, efficient and accommodating staff. From reservation and room selection to anything we asked for during our stay, and any information we requested about getting around Prague. Everyone was eager to help as well as very warm and friendly, but reserved when you want privacy.

Regarding the location, which we found magical, we were surprised that it seems to be fairly "undiscovered" by the high season crowds (which of course we were part of when we left the island!). It has no cars and we felt in another small and calm world, with the stairs to the Charles Bridge a few steps to the right, Kampa Park - much used by Prague residents - and modern art museum to the left, and the Lennon Wall around the corner. It was an easy walk across the bridge to the Old Town Square, or up to the town center on our side. From there, a short bus ride up to the Castle. It was too hot for me to walk up when we visited, but others did, and the walk down and back to the hotel was a beautiful highlight. From the same stop we took trolleys everywhere in the city too far to walk.

One late night favorite was an extra stroll across the bridge, away from the daytime heat and with fewer fellow visitors. The sight of the lights of the city reflected on the river is unforgettable.

Room Tip: We loved the executive on the top floor facing the square. Peaceful with great views on to square an...
