Close location within walking distance of old town and castle.
Big room with a kitchen so could prepare own meals.
Staff were excellent, friendly, helpful and honest. Late check in was amazing, detailed map & info was excellent & the local pub recommended to us had the best traditional prague Goulash and baked salmon!!
Room was tidy & towels changed daily. Perfect for cheap stay, you do get what you pay for, it's very affordable.
Some feed back would be that hall ways/stairs smelt of cigarette and the room had no safe and a badly damaged door but there are two other main doors to get through so that added extra security.
Two single beds pushed together with a double sheet that was too small so it kept coming off leaving us laying on the dirty mattresses in our sleep, very itchy and uncomfortable, pillows need replacing also. A fitted sheet and better pillows would make a world of difference.
Breakfast was exceptionally bad, some improvements would be: more than 3 bowls, fresh milk thats cold, replace food more often, boiled eggs often seemed off/spoilt, cereals seemed out of date. The atmosphere down in the breakfast room is dugeon like and a bit depressing.
Its easy to make your own breakfast or go out for breakfast.
Overall it is a great budget stay in Prague.
Be aware of the old town square as it is extremely expensive for meals and sadly youll find alot of people eat out of the bins.

This hotel is a short walk for the old town, in a quiet road, with a metro stop 3 block away. The rooms are a refitted apartment building which shows in the ring of keys you will need to keep with you. Beautiful room, with a lean out to see the castle view.

I stayed in the Hotel Merlin in early August while I was in Prague for a conference. Overall I was happy with the Merlin because it was a reasonable price for a reasonable hotel. My room had some new bathroom facilities which were very good. The staff also spoke very good English for which I was thankful, as always. The only drawback was breakfast which was average, though there were a couple of cafes/coffee shops close by to rectify that. The area is just south of the main city, but is still only 10-15 minutes walk to Wenceslas Square. A perfect choice for a traveller who wants a good price and a comfortable night.

This hotel was booked as a last minute job as the other place I had booked cancelled the booking due to overbooking rooms. Found this little gem online and wasn't expecting to be as impressed as I was with the Hotel.

This hotel is incredibly handy for the major sights in Prague being at the back of the Dancing House and near both the Jiráskovo náměstí tram stop (which is on the no. 17 line up to the Charles Bridge and Letna Beer Garden) and the Palackého náměstí tram stop and Karlovo náměstí Metro station meaning that if the 10 minute walk along the Old Town along the river is too much there’s plenty of other options.

The room I had was on the top floor and an absolute bargain, it was really spacious, en-suite, clean, comfy and quiet. I only had breakfast in the restaurant and bar in the hotel, which was well priced at 90Kc and included cheeses, bread, meats and cereal. On each floor the Hotel provides a fridge and kettle for guests to use. The only issue I had with the room was the thinness of the curtains, as soon as the sun came up the room was flooded with sunlight which meant a few early morning wake ups.

I found a great restaurant just along Gorazdova called Pomniku, which had classic Czech food, cheap beer and a place to sit outside and watch the world go by.

I’d recommend the Hotel Merlin to anyone looking for a good value, clean, well-located and quiet place to stay in Prague. The staff were superb also, I’ll be looking at staying here again when I next in Prague visiting friends.

Room Tip: The rooms at the back are incredibly quiet.

We got the double room with a view - not much of a view to speak of, but the room was spacious, cheerfully decorated and altogether very pleasant. Things were kept clean, and the hotel itself was quiet.

The receptionist Bara was extremely friendly, and suggested several walking routes of the city. Her recommendations were generally well-taken, and were helpful in light of our limited budget and the time we had in the city.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to travellers on a budget.

Room Tip: We stayed in the room with a view, which was lovely and well-lit during the day.

great improvements! Good location, those who say it isn't, most likely do not like to walk. Highly recommend!
