“Great value for money, great location!”
Reviewed 13 February 2011

We actually booked this hotel due to the good ratings on trip advisor and we were not disappointed!
The location is great because it is a little bit out of the city centre (a lot quieter) but there are 2 trams that take you straight to all the main attractions right outside the front door. They come every couple of minutes.

And the hotel is also right in front of the grounds of a previous king's residence. It is definitely worth to check out the church and very impressive looking cemetary on those grounds. You also get a great view over the city.

The breakfast was included in the price. It was ok. The variety wasn't that great but it had everything you needed.

The only complaint I would have is that our fridge in our room was not working and even though we were promised it would get fixed, it never did.

But other than that I was happy with this hotel and would recommend it to friends.

Dear niamhy09,

First of all, please allow me to thank for choosing King Charles Boutique Residence
for your recent stay in Prague. We truly appreciate your positive comment. We are
sincerely sorry that you had a problem with Jacuzzi. Unfortunately, if it breaks down,
the system repair takes approximately a month and it doesn’t depend much on us. All
our staff will be happy to see you again in our hotel.

I was there for a week at this hotel. My girlfriend and I wanted to spend a romantic week in Prague...Prague itself is very romantic but is even bettter when you have a nice and relaxing place to sleep. This is a wonderful hotel, centrally located (10 minutes tram to centre), some historic places nearby, breakfast well served, good room service, helpful staff. We would love to stay at this hotel if we visit Prague again. All in all a highly recommended.
One suggestion - We stayed for 6 days and we were served the same breakfast every morning. Would like to see some variety.

My sister and I stayed at the King Charles for 8 nights in October of 2010 and had an excellent time there. The hotel is both beautiful and comfortable. The jaquzzi in our room was really a nice addition and the price of our stay was the best part. There is a tea tray with selections of tea in the room also. The hotel was the best bargain in our 6 week trip to Europe! The staff was always friendly and helpful with directions, suggestions and making sure we were comfortable. Breakfast is served in a nice little dining area and has a good selection. My sister used the computer in our room and had no problems with it; I used the wifi down in the lobby and in the little patio area outside and it worked perfectly with my laptop. The tram is in easy walking distance of the hotel, only about a block. There is a great little tavern down on the corner that serves local food at a very good price that I also highly reccommend. I hope to stay at the King Charles Boutique Hotel again in the future! Thanks to all the staff who made our stay so very comfortable! Prague was one of the most beautiful and interesting cities we saw while in Europe, as well as being very affordable!

After a few emails with reception prior to our visit, the staff seemed friendly and helpful. We'd booked a transfer for €26 from the airport (it didn't arrive) we ended up having to go with an airport shuttle service anyway which was actually cheaper and a really good service! (Desk straight in front of you at arrivals - charged me €20 and then discounted to €15 on the way back)

The good news was our room was ready early so we could leave our bags and explore, the bad news was that the room was so small we felt trapped! Don't book the economy room - this wasn't a room it was a cupboard. I'm sure the slightly more expensive rooms would be ok. Our room was to the rear of the hotel - the trains whizzing past in the middle of the night disturbed our sleep the whole trip. The jacuzzi doesn't make this hotel worth a stay.
Although the bathroom was clean, the bedroom really wasn't and the maid knocked us up even though I'd put the DO NOT DISTURB sign on the door - not very happy :-( She evidently wasn't cleaning it though!!??

The breakfast is awful, yes they have "real" coffee but it didn't have any coffee in it !!
Eat breakfast out - breakfast included is not an advantage here. Save some money and start the day elsewhere.

"Taverna Slavia" just a few tram stops away (Catch no 18 to just opposite the National Theatre is really nice and good value - not ideal for children as its very smoky. Always quite busy with Czech diners - a good sign!

Although the trams are really regular (and free if you skip on - most people do!) its still a pain. I personally wish I'd booked closer to the city centre - 15/20 minutes is a long walk in the Prague winter cold !!

The only advantage is that there some lovely pubs/restaurants seconds away. We wouldn't have found these if we'd stayed elsewhere. Serving cheap drinks and food, try these out before going into town, you'll be pleasantly surprised. The italian restaurant just round the corner from the Tesco Express is well worth a visit as is the Staropramen restaurant just as you exit the hotel on the left.

Also, save time climb the hill to the fort ruin just around the corner from the hotel. A lovely walk and would be great for a picnic in the summer. Looks like they had an area for little concerts and good view points of the city of a clear day.

Unfortunately I wouldn't stay again but would go back to the area for the local pubs and some decent food to escape the tourist traps for a few hours.

Dear Bubba81,

Please let me thank you for your review. We are sincerely sorry that we could not meet your expectations. However, I just want to clarify that the size of our Superior rooms corresponds to five star hotels and size of the Economy corresponds to four.
We are constantly trying to improve our service and your feedback helps us with it. We have already provided some changes, and we hope that you give us another chance to prove it. In addition, we are currently expanding our breakfast menu to please the whole family.
Finally, the walk along the Vltava to the Charles Bridge is very charming when it is more than 5 degrees Celsius.

We hope to see you again soon!

We found the hotel here, on TripAdvisor.

Having read numerous comments, my boyfriend and I decided to go with King Charles Boutique Hotel Residence, and we were not disappointed. Behind unassuming wooden doors was a true gem of a hotel - charming, stylish and very elegant. Small and friendly, with gorgeous antique replica mahogany furniture, the hotel made our 3-night stay a truly pleasant and relaxing experience. It had everything - huge tasty (and varied) breakfasts for boys, jaccuzzi in every room for girls – happiness all around! :-) Set not far from Vysehrad Castle outside of the noisy city centre, the hotel is about 20-min stroll to The Charles Bridge.

Overall, I think King Charles Boutique Hotel Residence truly deserves its 4-star status whilst not breaking the budget. We loved every minute there and will undoubtedly be happy to go back!
