“Luxury in a great location”
Reviewed 23 March 2007

Just returned from 3 nights in this fabulous hotel. Our room was huge, with an enormous bed and pillows to die for - like sleeping on a cloud!! THE best hotel I've stayed in without exception, with all the little touches that make it special - fresh thai orchids in the bathroom, generously sized Aromatherapy toiletries, massive bath and separate walk-in shower.
The staff were all friendly and informative, no hint of stuffiness which you may experience in other hotels of this calibre.
We ate the restaurant - an asian/fusion menu, and found it to be good - slightly expensive however we were presented with a 2 for 1 meals offer on arrival which made it even more palatable!
The conversion from a monastery has been sympathetically done, you can view some of the archaeological discoveries they made during the renovation in the tunnel linking the main building to the spa, and also see some of the preserved remains under a glass floor in the spa itself. Two of our party had treatments and raved about them.
The hotel is in a great location, close to Charles Bridge, with a tram stop round the corner to take you up to the Castle. Everywhere is really within walking distance - if you can manage to tear yourself out of bed!

This luxury hotel opened at the end of 2006 in a converted monastery. We had a premier room and found the accomodation of a luxurious standard. All the staff were exceptional. I used the spa for a wonderful swedish massage - not cheap but for a 1 hour 20 minute session it was worth it. Located close to Charles Bridge and tourist spots very central but still quiet and secluded. The quality of food in the restaurant was great but lacked the local authenticity of the wonderful local restaurant right outside the hotel. Would certainly recommend this hotel if you are looking for luxury in Prague.

Quick review. I organised a sales meeting at this hotel in Feb 2007. I couldn't fault the hotel, it is bright, clean and all furnishings are new. The service from the staff was perfect and they are all so friendly. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel for business or pleasure. It is a top quality hotel, the only reason for the 4 rating is because breakfast is waiter service and as such can be a little slow.

We booked a Sesonal Choices 3 for 2 nights opening offer and we were more than satisfied with what the hotel delivered: a spacious Deluxe room with a very pleasing colour scheme and expensive fabrics, a great bathroom with separate shower and deep tub and a delicious A la Carte breakfast each morning in the hotel's stylish "Essensia" restaurant. Furthermore, we were greeted with chilled white wine, fruit and chocolate.

Every staff member treated us with the utmost courtesy - from Zuzana (who checked us in in our room after having given us a tour of the property) to the helpful bellmen.

The tour of the hotel is recommended, because the hotel is located in a former monastery and its room layout follows the historical structure and can be a little confusing.

We did not use the spa and the fitness centre, but what we saw was very attracting.

Last but not least: one other big plus is the hotel's location. On the Mala Strana side of Prague, in the so called Little Quarter, a quiet, distinguished area surrounded by embassies, ministeries and seducing restaurants. Close enough to Old Town's sights, but far enough from its annoying drunken hords.

Situated in a quiet corner of Mala Strana, surrounded by traditional buildings. 5 minute walk to Charles Bridge and good selection of bars/restaurants, trams stop closeby, a safe area at all times of day/night. Ideal location if you like peace and quiet and a feel of what the real Prague is like.

Met at airport by hotel limosine - expensive but nice (although their idea of a stretched limo is not the same as in the UK).

Greeted by name & taken directly to room where check in details taken - very quick and efficient. Room large and airy, overlooked court yard, enormous bed, nicely furnished in neutrals with splashes of colour. Very comfortable although not the upgraded historic room expected - decided not to request change as on the hotel map these looked quite small. Bathroom in beige marble, large double ended bath and separate large shower cubicle.

Some issues with details in the room: no tea/coffee tray; no toiletries for putting in the bath; unable to adjust level of the underfloor heating in bathroom - too warm at times; insufficient storage space in terms of drawers; no way of checking who is outside the door - no security bar or spy hole on the door; air conditioning didn't seem to do much (had to request key from concierge to open window); only received a paper one day out of three; no information about the hotel in the room - eg breakfast times, how to get an outside line, the purpose of the large yellow and red tassles hanging up ( realised red =do not disturb and assumed yellow = clean room now), etc.; no information about places to go in the local area or other parts of Prague.

More general issues: Tiny lift could be a problem if hotel full. Area designated as a lounge was utilised by Audi for a conference for all of our stay

Breakfast selection and quality poor for 5 star and service not always up to scratch. In general, hotel staff pleasant and always opened doors and greeted you, prompt response to any queries.

Decor throughout hotel too understated , felt somewhat clinical. No sense of the historic nature of the building.

Still enjoyed our stay although would definately not return for another visit as feel it is significantly overpriced.
