“Very good experience”
Reviewed 29 July 2012

Location: This hostel is not located in the super touristy part of Prague, but that actually works in its favor. This is because you can find good Czech food for cheap prices nearby, as well as cheap drinks and groceries. The area is safe and near the metro station.

Price: Prices were a good deal for our room and the area.

Accommodations: We stayed in a 12 bed room, but it felt like less because the room was partitioned (4 bunks one side, 8 in the other). This made it actually a lot more private and quiet seeming than other hostels. Beds were clean and the rolling foot lockers were useful. The washing machine and dryer are perpetually broken though, and be warned that it may take several tries to dry your clothing items.

Staff: Hit or miss. The girl who checked us in was helpful and friendly, as were the bartenders. Will say that the young man who works the early morning shift was quite rude to myself and my friend when our shuttle was late and we asked if we could call. He became agitated and practically reprimanded us for being concerned.

Overall, 45. The real detractors for this place are the location and the stuffy rooms.

The hostel looks like a normal hotel, for backpackers but for "normal tourists" too. Its confortable, Have very good meal in the breakfast and perfect location, some minutes walk from the center or, if you dont like walk, you have public transport in some steps. The neighborhood its good, with some pubs and restaurants. The instalations are new and some special in designer. Kindly young staff. Perfect!

I very much enjoyed my stay at the Czech inn. Clean, secure, nice atmosphere. Bad pillows but after being in European hostels and hotels for two months I'm used to that now. Was in a ten bed dorm but it didn't feel crowded and had a nice ensuite. Great bar downstairs with reasonable prices and all the staff were very friendly.

It's an hostel only for the dormitories. But the bath is so clean and modern, the rooms confortables and breakfast really good!

I enjoyed my stay at Czech Inn. The room was spacious and decorated in a funky modern way. The location was convenient (5/10 minutes walk to the metro, 50m from the tram stop). However if I went to Prague again I would pay more and stay closer to the town as it took about 15 minutes to get into town via public transport (which added up in time and cost over several days). The only other drawback was that the room didn't have aircon, do it did get a bit stuffy, though there was a fan.

Czech Inn was a minor nightmare. Booked for an all female group of 6 (friends) and requested a 6-bedroom dorm, however on arrival we were told 3 of us were in a 4-bed dorm and the other 3 were in a different 4-bed dorm! After a long-winded discussion we managed to get a 4-bed dorm for 4, but 2 of us group (including me) ended up sharing a 4-bed dorm with 2 guys!

The worst thing about Czech Inn though was the lack of hostel facilities - there were no communal kitchens, no toasters, no fridges, no kettle! It was certainly no good if you are on a budget. This problem was exacerbated by the fact that the cafe/bar offers barely any food! Given, the breakfast buffet was very very good (although £4 per day), but you could only buy terrible pizza and a limited choice of sandwiches (often not vegetarian).

The lights in the toilets were broken, and the showers are set to a timer which means you have to push a button in again literally every 20 seconds - annoying because the water isn't consistantly hot and by the time it is you have to push the button in.

It was also difficult to sleep because of the very loud traffic and there was no air conditioning for the super hot weather Prague had this week.

On the plus side, the hostel was beautifully clean, and the surrounding area had some amazing indie coffee shops (Mama Coffee and Coffee House were particularly good). It was also a good location because it avoids the terrible drunkards and loud clubs descending on Prague city centre after 10pm.

Czech Inn is a new breed of Hostels catering for all different budgets, they have different types of accommodation. We had taken a triple bed room, was A big spacious one...And their bathroom was the biggest we had seen through our holiday in Europe....Amazing bar down the place with reasonably priced drinks... Served a hearty breakfast too in the mornings...Location is 6 stops away from the center , so perfect for some peace..GREAT TIME......
