“Great hostel!”
Reviewed 28 August 2012

Lovely hostel, looks like a five star hotel! Its very modern and has lovely decor. Room was great, really clean and had massive lockers. The ladder to get up to the top top bunk wasn't great though, it was such a challenge to get up and down! Showers were very posh looking and were clean but it took ages for them to get warm. In one of the showers the light was broken so people were having to shower with the door open! Toilets were nice and clean. The bar was lovely, free wifi and it also served pizza. Staff were really helpful and friendly. Location was ok, about a 20 minute walk to the metro and then one stop to get to the main train station/town centre, or you could get a tram from outside to the metro. Would recommend the hostel!

My daughter and I stayed here 4 nights in July.Excellent value for the money and although much more sparse and basic than our typical choice of accommodations it delivered what was promised. Room and bathroom very clean and has been renovated to a contemporary, modern, urban style. We had a private room with a bed big enough for both of us. Nice duvet and our own private bath. No A/C which we are not used to and a fair amount of street noise from the trams and cars. You need to be able to use the transit to get to tourist sites so you better know how to read czech or have somebody who lives there help you out. Otherwise a cab costs about $5 to get down to the main tourist area. The place has an overall stylish and hip feel to it. All front desk staff helpful and friendly.Cheap breakfast each morning a plus.

I'm not totally sure how to sum up Czech Inn, but I'll guess I'll give the old Pros and Cons: I should write that I stayed in a private room, twin bed for three nights. The bed was like sleeping on a rock however.

Pros:
A) It was clean, clean, clean...especially for a hostel full of travelers of varying cleanliness habits. Private rooms have a sink in room
B) Most staff were pretty helpful, a couple were not explicitly rude, but not really friendly. One overcharged me on coffee in the morning. But a couple were standout and very nice They have a bunch of stuff to help you in case you forget something, need a metro ride etc.
C) Bar downstairs is convenient for the obvious and they have a few TVs. There is a market directly across the street for basic stuff and a few more surrounding.

Cons:
A) Its a haul into the main area, I don't care if there is a tram 50 meters down, waiting for the tram and all the stops in between in and of itself is annoying, I would prefer to walk, but every time I walked it ended up being half an hour up and down hills. I for one don't need to be in the center of town and actually prefer to walk over mass transit if reasonable. Prague has one main central radius and walking from the hostel is easy 30 minutes at a decent pace.

B) The layout of the floors with the showers and bathrooms is annoying and not well designed and not "stylish." Not to mention the fact that the showers turn off automatically unless you keep pushing "the shower button" in every 5 seconds. As well as the fact that one night there was no hot water. I was told that the boiler had been overworked by too many guests?! When you're paying, and I don't care if its $6 or $600 a night...unacceptable

C) All you can eat breakfast is not worth the six euros.

D) This is totally personal, and hard to describe, but the whole vibe, design, atmosphere of the hostel I don't like. You just don't pull it off, stop trying to be so "cool."

Bottom line: I've stayed in better (currently in Circus Hostel in Berlin...Czech Inn could take many lessons from this very excellent and chill hostel). If I were to go to Prague again I would seek accommodation elsewhere.

We stayed here for 3 nights in late May 2012. We had anticipated that the hostel was well out of the city centre and that we would have to pay for transport everywhere, but it's not anywhere near as far as we imagined.

The rooms were clean, the bathrooms stylish and the staff friendly and helpful.

I wouldnt recommend the breakfast but everything else was great :)

Have stayed here twice and both stays have been pleasant and comfortable.
The hotel blends being both a hostel/hotel successfully with spacious rooms and more than comfortable accomodation in the dormitories. Management have hit on a formula that works successfully
Reception staff are helpful, friendly and will point you in the right direction to Pragues many stunning attractions.
The Czech Inn is located at least a 20 minute walk from the centre of Prague, however there is a tram stop within 50 metres which will take you directly to the heart.....the nearest raiway station is about a 10 minute walk. Breakfast is self serve and although choice is not huge its healthy, and should be more than adequate to satisfy most appetites. There are also plenty of decent eating places within easy walking distance.
This is a reasonable option if you dont mind staying out of the centre. Have stayed here twice and had a good experience both times.

Out of the many hostels I've stayed in, this was by far the nicest. We stayed in a private room, which was not only extremely affordable, but nicer than many hotels I've stayed in. The room was very clean, cozy, and well laid out. I really enjoyed having a safe to put my valuables in as well.
The bar/lounge area was beautiful, with a great drink menu, and very cheap prices.
My only complaint would be the location - quite a trek to the Old Town, although public transit was right outside the door. I did wish it was a little closer to the heart of the city.
All-in-all, this was a beautiful hostel, that I would HIGHLY recommend to ANYONE visiting Prague!
