“Best stay in Prague”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 August 2014

I have stayed in over 10 properties in Prague, and of all of them (even stays for double the price) this was my favourite and I was already planning my next visit as I departed. There are so many things to recommend this hotel, but at the forefront is the exceptional receptionist, Andrea, who went way above the call of duty to make our stay as perfect as possible. The entire hotel was beautifully decorated, sparse but in keeping with the style of the monastery. We reserved a top-floor two story room and were surprised at how beautiful it was. The air-con was brilliant, ranging from mild to very strong (which we greatly appreciated in August) and the WiFi was also surprisingly strong and quick. Of course, the hotel is actually inside the grounds of the monastery, adding a level of tranquility to the stay in the evenings and setting the scene for an interesting and picturesque day's sightseeing. We stayed 2 nights, but could easily have stayed a week. I really cannot recommend this hotel highly enough, thank you for making our vacation so memorable!

Room Tip: Opt for a top floor split level room for great views and quiet sleep

We stayed at the hotel for 5 days in july. The rooms are quite large with a really comfortable bed, nice bathroom including a bath, tea and coffee making and a tv. The only criticism we had was the fact that the storage space is very small, If you took lots of clothes most would have to stay in your case. There is no air con, however all the windows could be opened.
Breakfast is served in a nice downstairs room with an outside garden area, All the staff were very helpful and friendly.
The hotel is in a quiet part of Prague. Although there are plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants within 10 minutes, the ones in the monastery grounds have to close at 10.30
The location is great for visiting Strahov monastery, being in the same courtyard. Prague castle is 10 minutes walk away, and on the way to the castle is Loreta church, which is well worth a visit.
The church bells stop at 10pm, and restart at 6am, so you dont need an alarm!!
Its a 20 minute walk down a steep hill to the Charles bridge and Old town, and get the no22 tram back up the hill. Overall, a great place to stay for couples or there are 2 larger family rooms.

My wife & I plus another couple stayed 2 nights in this wonderful small hotel. It is ideally located near to Prague Castle and has fantastic views over the Old Town. The rooms are small but comfortable; no air-con but wasn't needed. The nearby brewery and restaurant are an added bonus. Free Wi-Fi works well. Breakfast choice is excellent. Highly recommended.

We stayed here two nights, amd it was a pretty satisfactory stay. There's no A/C, but the fans and the cool nights kept the rooms at a comfortable temperature. The breakfast buffet has a good variety of filling options.

My wife and I recently spent a most enjoyable week at the Residence Monastery, which had been recommended highly to us by an Austrian friend with extensive travel experience in western and central Europe; we strongly second her high recommendation. It is a small, comfortable, and exceptionally friendly hotel, the ideal place for travelers who (like us) do not need -- and indeed don’t want -- all the fancy amenities of so-called luxury hotels. It is blissfully located away from the crowded, overly touristy areas of the city, on the grounds of the Strahov Monastery, high up on a hill, overlooking the Castle, St Vitus Cathedral, the Old Town, and the Moldau. As interesting as the central part of Prague is, we found it a distinct advantage to be able to get away from the tour groups and revelers and retreat to the quiet beauty of the monastery and the huge wooded hillside park next to it. We particularly enjoyed strolling through the monastery grounds and the park in the evenings, after a visit to the recently reopened monastery brewery, which I also recommend for its food as well as its craft beer, and which is happily located almost next door to the hotel. I can honestly say that the hotel and its location contributed enormously to making our stay in Prague a memorable one. Above all, I commend the hotel staff, especially the receptionist, Andrea, whose genuine friendliness and helpful guidance allowed us to make the most of our time in Prague, and left us with an indelible impression of the warmth and hospitality of the Czech people.

Room Tip: If you are a senior citizen, you probably want to avoid the rooms on the attic floor that have the b...

I really loved this place. The price was fantastic, and the location on the grounds of Strahov Monastery couldn't get much better. The view was unbelievable. It was right above Prague Castle, and the view of the rest of the old town was also great. The way the room was laid out was also interesting. The bathroom and a small living area with a desk and TV was on the floor with the entrance, and then the beds were in a loft above, also with a TV. You do get a bit of a wake up call with the church bells from the monastery ringing at 6AM. I didn't mind because it gives you the perfect excuse to wake up and go explore Prague. The bed was OK. The breakfast was good, with a whole bunch of variety. Some eggs, bacon, sausage, yogurt, pastries, breads, fruit, etc.. The guy working at the reception desk was also very helpful and accommodating.

Room Tip: The rooms on the upper floor have the lofts, so you have the great view of the city on the lower flo...

We stayed 2 nights, service was great, as well as accommodation and overall location. We payed for Standard double rooms, but were offered to upgrade to DeLuxe rooms for no extra cost ^_^ Receptionist was lovely, helped in any way she could. Really enjoyed the stay, will come back again :-)
The location is superb, right next to the Prague Castle, our bedroom had view of whole of Prague from one window and Petrin tower from another one.
PS: pillows are the best pillows ever :D (and I never get on with pillows)
