“good location but would not use again”
Reviewed 8 February 2013

The hotel is well fitted out and rooms carefully thought out. Location is great at the edge of the old town, though front rooms could be noisy.

However the bed was so uncomfortable I could not consider using this hotel again. Several of my colleagues said the same.

There is no shuttle bus for airport transfer. Upon our arrival we found the room ourselves while we were carrying our luggage. Everything in the room has very low quality. The matress is very hard and overused, every morning I woke up with backpains. There was no shampoo in the amenities only bath gel. There was no toilet brush (very romantic). All of the above is double checked beacause we asked for a room change (The first room was smaller than the others and the equipment in the bathroom was falling apart). The only services that are provided is a restaurant, a snack bar and a fitness room. Nothing else. This is a good 3 star city hotel. Don't expect any luxury.

I'm visiting Prague 2-3 times a year and within the last 3 years I'm staying only in Thalia. Location is very good to avoid the tourist crowds but easily access everything. Ask for the last floor rooms with the masard windows to get a beautiful view of the Prague rooftops.

My sister and I took a Christmas trip to Prague and we stayed 3 nights at this hotel. Depending on what websites you look at, the property is rated 4-5 stars. I would place it solidly in the 4 star category. They have friendly service, modern contemporary decor, gorgeous updated bathrooms (nothing makes you feel as at ease about a property as a gleaming, clean bathroom) and a good hot breakfast buffet that served both myself (no dietary restrictions) and my sister (basically a vegetarian) very well. Yes, the beds are very firm, but that's not unusual based on my travels throughout the world.
The location was extremely convenient to Wenceslas Square, Old Town and Charles Bridge. We were able to take public transportation to and from the airport, but other than that we walked everywhere.
There was even a Tesco supermarket just one short block away so you can stock up on beverages and snacks.
There was a minor misunderstanding - we had paid for the room to include wifi and breakfast, but the travel agent did not transmit all the details to the hotel. All I had to do was show the daytime desk manager a copy of my email detailing that those were included and they made the updates to my portfolio, and it was all done with a good attitude.
Our stay there was a great value for the money. I would have no problem staying there again if I were to go back to Prague.

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights in September, and we were VERY satisfied.... As newbies to the city of Prague, we were amazed and grateful that this hotel was so centrally located...to EVERYTHING: the river, Charles Bridge, Wenceslas Square, in the heart of the major shops, close to awesome restaurants, etc. Located on one of the main streets, Narodni, we could always locate the street on our map, and found our way back to the hotel with ease.
The front desk staff was very helpful, and spoke English, which is always a plus. The room was huge, with a beautiful bathroom and great water pressure in the shower (which, believe it or not, is super important).
The only complaint that we have about this hotel, or about our room in particular, was the bed. SOLID ROCK HARD. It was like sleeping on concrete. I admit that we did not address our issue with the staff, as we were unsure what they could do about it, and doubted they would replace our mattress, but needless to say, the mattress was awful. Perhaps additional blankets between the mattress and top sheet would have made a more cushion-y surface, but we didnt quite think of that idea until we had departed.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Thalia, and recommend this place to stay for anyone coming to town for a visit, EXCEPT for those with existing back problems... Probably not your best bet for sleeping arrangements.

I booked a room last minute on 30 Dec, so Prague was packed and we were able to find an opening. We could not be happier with the room (see pics). It was a beautiful 4th floor room with a great view of the palace and cathedral. (Rm 417)

The staff was very helpful and spoke good English. We were able to get a spot in the parking garage (term used very loose). The spot cost 22 € a night and the garage was just large enough for about 5 vehicles. The issue here is that they try to squeeze in 8. I would not suggest using the garage if you can avoid it, however the nearest paid parking is a good 10min walk. All parking downtown is by permit only.

Overall the hotel was great and we would easily suggest it to friends. We have already stared looking into other Eurostar locations for our next trip.
