“Strange room, good location”
Reviewed 20 October 2012

We were booked at a different hotel across the street but upon arrival we were met and advised that due to a water problem we were being booked into this hotel instead. I am not sure what the difference in prices would have been, but the room we were given was probably the strangest I have ever stayed in. It was an interior room and the only window was beside the door and opened into the hallway! So no outside air and anyone could just step in. Also there was a step down in the room that made no sense at all and was rather dangerous. I can't tell you how many times we tripped on it because it was right across the middle of the room and you had to cross it to use the bathroom. The room was very clean, good bed & linens. Good open shower in the bathroom. The design of the bathroom was really strange - the toilet was down a curved narrow hallway. Breakfast was included and was a la carte in the restaurant attached to the hotel - it was the best selection I have ever seen for an included breakfast at a hotel. We did not have any other meals there. The location is quite good - a few minutes to the bridge. Walking distance across the bridge to the main square where the clock is etc. (maybe 10 mins.). The castle is also walking distance. Since we hadn't made the booking and we were only there two nights we didn't make any fuss about the room but if you book here definitely ask if there is an outside window (and no step so you don't break your neck in the night!). From the reviews it sounds like the other rooms are great. We were also able to store our luggage at the hotel on our check out day.

Room Tip: Make sure you don't get the interior room with no outside window!

If you're looking for a place to stay in Prague look no further. A friend recommended this hotel to us and we were extremely pleased. The hotel is conveniently located very close to the bridge. It's on a main street but even the rooms that face the street are quiet after about 11pm. The hotel is beautiful and very clean. The rooms are extremely spacious. The restaurant in the hotel is good. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They helped us figure out the train schedules for day trips, gave us good recommendations, and assisted with making reservations. We highly recommend this hotel.

This is a small residence located smacked in the touristic attraction area.
The reception was nice, helpful and open, something rare to find in Czec Republic.
Our room was spacious and the Hästens brand bed provided us very comfortable and cozy nights.
They offer free wifi internet in the rooms, that´s quite good !
The only issue was the lack of hot water during our staying.
We talked to the staff but this couldn´t be solved. So they gave us discount in the room rate to compensate.
If it wasn´t for this problem our staying at Residence U Cerneho would had been very, very nice.

Room Tip: The rooms can be quite different from each other regarding size and decoration, if possible try to c...

Excellent location near Charles bridge. Romantic design (exterior and especially interior) with old stile furniture, very traditional and pleasant. Also everything is very clean. Breakfast is fear.
Wooden floors can be a bit noisy. Also if you have a room with street view you should know there is a lot of people until late in the night (the window phonic isolation was good in my room).
Excellent place from you can start a romantic journey through Prague romantic old town.

Didn't stay at the hotel, but since the restaurant apparently hasn't got its own page, here I am. The sign on the door advertising 'breakfast all day' was all it took to get me and my massive "too much pilsen" induced hangover in. The eggs benedict at this place is an absolutely divine dish, doubly so when served with a nice cold mug of hair of the dog. If you've slept in and missed breakfast (or not), this is the place to go!

The Residence is perfectly located, just a few steps away from Charles Bridge. Rooms are spacious, clean and equipped with luxury furniture. The local staff provides a very kind assistance. I would definitely recommend it, for a business trip as well as for a holiday!

What a pity this hotel doesn't have a separate listing for its restaurant which is superb. The Black Eagle as it's also known, was actually recommended to us by another restaurant 5 mins away. You can't get a better recommendation than from another establishment! Located very close to the Charles bridge, the restaurant is right next door to the hotel and was very quiet. The waiter offered impeccable service & was extremely friendly, so much different from where we'd been only an hour before for an ice coffee on the other side of the bridge.

The presentation of each dish was excellent, the food mouthwatering, especially the pate entree. Unlike the usual way this dish is served, the goose liver was whole, just cooked enough to be tender and juicy. The combination of thyme & cranberries and the delicious sweet that finished off this dish were excellent. We chose the Tiger prawn linguini with a fresh tomato sauce and the salmon with a french pie for the main course, followed by delicious desserts. I requested a side plate of cooked spinach as we have found very few fresh green vegetables are served in Europe apart from salad. The chef kindly agreed to our request which was very much appreciated. On paying (5 dishes and coffee for $40 plus tip) we were presented with a lovely brochure for the hotel, a postcard & a discount on a future meal. We'll definitely return to try the other enticing dishes before we leave Prague! The hotel itself is a little out of my budget range only because I am travelling for so long (seven months) and only get to meet up with my husband occasionally, but for a treat I'd love to stay here, especially as breakfast is included. In all my time on the road, the food at this restaurant was definitely our favourite. Will be leaving a note at our B&B for future guests to visit and enjoy what I can only describe as "deliciously memorable".

Room Tip: I didn't stay in the hotel, but if the restaurant was anything to judge by, I don't think yo...
