It would be our pleasure to be one of the first to submit a review for La Ballerina Hotel!
When we booked our stay on Expedia in March, there were no reviews at all, and in fact, nothing on the internet whatsoever concerning this property, so we were skeptical to say the least. When we booked, the name was Hotel Fashion Dancing, but is now known as La Ballerina Hotel.
The hotel has only been open for 3 weeks, and does not even have a sign on the door yet. It is part of the Alchymist Luxury Group of hotels. Similar to other hotels in its class, it shows up on the booking websites as a 5-star hotel, but more accurately should likely be considered as a 4-star hotel. But no matter the class, it is evident that management is aiming for excellence.
Emails with the hotel in advance of our stay were handled professionally by the staff, and we arranged for a car and driver to pick us up at the airport at a cost of 850 korunas. It is a 25 minute drive to the hotel.
The hotel is in a very good location. It is in Nove Mesto (New Town) district, near the Dancing House building, and near to the river. It is about a 20 to 30 minute walk to Stare Mesto (Old Town) and the Old Town Square, either through the old streets and passing Wenceslas Square, or while taking a nice walk along the river. The train station is about 20 to 30 minute walk away as well. Part of the appeal of this property is staying in a bit more of a residential area, where you could enjoy the walk into the touristy area, while being able to get away from the hustle and bustle and higher prices of the touristy centre each night. There are 2 pubs a half block away, serving excellent traditional Czech food (duck, gulash, dumplings, etc.) and Czech beer at very affordable prices.
The hotel and rooms are furnished with brand new and modern furnishings and fixtures, including overhead rainfall showerheads and spacious shower stalls.
The breakfast was excellent, with some hot items to choose from including bacon, chicken sausage, potatoes, scrambled eggs, as well as cold meats, cheese, vegetables, fruit, yogurt, cereals, breads, hot croissants, and juices, coffee and teas. The dining room staff was very attentive.
The service from the front desk and maintenance staff was excellent, with any issues being dealt with immediately.
We highly recommend this hotel, and encourage you to consider it for a stay in Prague!!!!
