“Centrally located and lovely hotel”
Reviewed 13 December 2013

We stayed here for 4 nights in Dec (7th - 11th) and after a delayed flight out from Heathrow the greeting at reception was wonderful. We were given some lovely sparkling wine and it tasted lovely. Check in was efficient and a lovely little area where you sit down rather than the usual hotel reception.
We had booked a standard room and were given 308. We were very impressed on entering the room, spacious, warm and clean. The bathroom was very modern and it was great to have both a bath & shower as you can then have a soak if you've been walking like we did all day.
The breakfast was plentiful and a great selection - breads, cereals, pancakes, eggs cooked to order, bacon, sausages, beans etc. I especially enjoyed their oatmeal - very tasty. It was a nice start to the day and we rarely ate at lunchtime.
The only downside was the hotel was very hot. But think that's the same of all of them. As soon as you walk in from the outside it hits you. Yes it was cold outside so you are all wrapped up but even at night with the temperature turned right down on the thermostat, it was boiling in the room.
But overall we'd definately stay here again as it's so central and can walk everywhere - once you find all the short cuts its surprising how even closer the hotel becomes to everything.

We arrived at the hotel by transfer arranged by them following email correspondence, it was reasonable at 700czk. Check in with Lenska was efficient and we were offered a drink during the process which is a nice touch. The hotel itself was perfectly situated for our trip, just round the corner from old town square, and a 5 minute stroll to Charles Bridge. It is spotlessly clean and the staff all pleasant and helpful.
Tomasz on reception was wonderful on our 2nd night when my partner needed a dentist at 2 am, he searched for an emergency dentist and arranged it all for us. A bottle of fizz was delivered to the room for my partners birthday which was lovely, and unexpected.
Overall a fantastic stay!

We stayed at the Hotel Savic for 5 nights in the winter.

It is very centrally-located; only a few steps to the Old Town Square, the Charles Bridge and the Astronomical Clock.

Our package included breakfast. Each day, we had coffee, cappuccino, juice, oatmeal, various meats, breads, and eggs cooked to order. It was excellent to be able to start your day satisfied and full.

The rooms are pretty big, by European standards. Ours was a standard room. It had 2 single beds in it, a desk, a chair and an ottoman, and a couple of end tables. Had TV, but didn't watch much of it. Had CNN on for a while, one night. One perk is that they had a Nespresso-type coffee machine in the room. I am a big coffee drinker, and want a cup right away. It saved me having to go down and grab one from the breakfast area. The room was nice and warm, and the beds were very comfortable. You had to use your room key to operate the elevators, so we felt safe and secure. There was always someone at the front desk to greet you. There was an ice machine on our floor by the elevator.

The bathroom was pretty big. It had a nice sized tub with a shower, and a big vanity/sink area. Had great water pressure, but if you want really hot showers, take your showers at night (probably the same at a lot of places). They don't supply facecloths there (maybe it's a cultural thing?), so if you want one, bring one with you. We got a good amount of towels, though. The Bathroom also had a scale, which I hesitated to step on after a week of eating meat and dumplings!

The room was cleaned and refreshed daily. The hotel might be a little difficult if you have a walking disability. We had to climb a couple of stairs to get to our room. Not terrible, but a little challenging with your luggage.

The people who work at the hotel were pleasant, patient, kind and very helpful (A special thank you to Mira at the Front Desk!). All spoke English extremely well, and were able to give us advice on site seeing and local goings on. We took advantage of having them set up a priced-fixed taxi to the airport for us.

I would definitely stay at the Hotel Savic again, and I would recommend it to a friend.

One thing I would like to share here, though, and it has nothing to do with the hotel at all... We arrived at the train station from Munich. We immediately changed our currency to CZ from Euros at the train station. Don't do that. We were hit with a 20% commission cost to change the money. It was fast, and confusing, and there were lots of people in line after us, so we did not really "read the fine print" until afterward, (nor was it really advertised), but when we did, we saw we got a bad exchange rate, AND were were hit with the 20% charge. I would presume that the Airport may have something similar going on there. For your information, there is a currency change place right behind the Savic that does the change at 0%, and has a favorable exchange rate. You should change just enough to get you to the hotel, then, change at the booth by the hotel.

My wife and I went for the xmas markets which to be honest looked great but the market goods weren't that wondderful but the whole experience of Prague at xmas was excellent .

The Savic was a wonderful hotel and located superbly for a local attractions .The hotel booked a taxi for us from airport even after having our flight cancelled by BA when we arrived at London HR. We eventually arrived 7 n half hours late but the hotel was very clean , food good , staff helpful .
But as i have seen on other reports , we were in room 406 up in loft , very nice room but the cleaners left hoovers and washing trolleys at bottom of twisty staircase and it looked bad and made getting up stairs a bit awkward so if the hotel is reading this , please sort it out as it lets down a otherwise wonderful stay.

Highly recommend taking the 6 hr sightseeing trip booked through Prague tours, sounds a long time and after 20 mins me and missus were thinking of bunking off to a bar , but we stayed and we are glad we did, very good tour guide , knew her stuff, was funny and knew when to stop for beer and lunch to give your legs and feet a rest .

Don't bother with horse and cart ride , we did , nice cosy ride but don't really see a lot apart from back streets, take the tour, much better.

U PRINCE HOTEL - good food and nice bar called black angels , also a bar called the Taverna toscana just down road from u prince , cracking little place , ask to sit downstairs .

Don't bother with ice skating as it is a tiny rink and not worth it, save the money and have a beer instead .

But defo try out the Savic and Prague

So to sum it up , would defo use the SAVIC again , top place , prague lovely at xmas but off to Berlin next year as once you have done Prague , not much to go back for if you have seen it all .

Room Tip: room 406 is quiet if you don't mind stairs

Stayed here on 6th-8th Dec 2013. We felt extremely welcome when we arrived and were given a glass of sparkling wine while we sat down to check-in which was a nice touch. Our room (204) was enormous and looked very grand. The bathroom was beautiful and had a TV built in to the wall at the end of the bath. The location couldn't be better and the staff were all fantastic and are a credit to the hotel.

We were 3 couples staying for 3 nights at the hotel, on arrival we were told that our travel company "travel republic"had cancelled 1 of our rooms. luckily the Hotel had a cancellation that evening and allowed us to stay that day while they sorted it out. Thanks to Mira the receptionist this was sorted the next day, no thanks to Travel Republic.
The 3 rooms we had 306/302/101 were all excellent, the entire staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient. The hotel which was partly built on the site of a dominican monestery was very unusual , full of different features, which added to the atmosphere of the hotel. The position of the hotel was perfect, ideal for the old town square with its many restaurants and historical sites. thanks to the staff they made our holiday and we would certainly return to this hotel.

Room Tip: We had 3 rooms, all were very good quality

A group of 6 friends stayed for a long weekend end of November, we had a brilliant time. The hotel is amazing, so close to everything, clean, tidy and welcoming. We had 3 rooms, all on the top floor and all lovely. Breakfast was lovely, lots of choice hot and cold bits. Loved it so much think we would all go back again. Would reccomend this hotel!
