I had booked 3 nights in Prague for my partners 30th birthday as a surprise for him. Once i had booked it i then found all sorts of bad reviews for the hotel Olympik, i was a little concerend but we had both decided just to enjoy our time away and not expect luxury, after all the holiday was so very cheap.
On arrival into Prague, we were dropped of by our taxi out side the actual Hotel Olympik main building (later found that the Hotel Olympik Tristar and the Artemis are all part of the the same complex) at reception we were told to walk round to the Artemis, we were very confused by this because we had no idea it exisited! There appears to be a lot of renevating work on the Olympik at the moment. It was quite tough walking around to the Artemis because we arrived on jan 26th 2007 at night, the temp was -7 degrees!!! and the snow was VERY deep, so you can imagine trying to tackle snow, wind, ice and freezing temps with luggage and bags! We did make it round to the Artemis, i was very shocked to see how amazing it looked ( clearly built only 5 mins before we arrived!) The guy at reception wasnt exactly friendly but hey! that wasnt going to spoil our break! We were on the 7th floor so got amazing views of the castle and around Prague! The room was spotless, huge and the bathroom! WOW! huge bath, so clean, cleaners were in every day with fresh towels and cleaned every bit of the room! The only thing that let us down were the beds, 2 single pushed together, but the mattress was so bloody hard, like concrete, gave us both stiff backs and necks and we only had one pillow each, which was feather and waifer thin..... but all in all it was incredible! Excellent transport links, tram line number 24 from centre of prague and the metro runs till midnight 7 days a week! A 3 day unlimited travel pass for the metro/tram is only 220kc which equated to a fiver each! you can buy the 3 day ticket in the wee shop at the metro station (invalidova)
