“Unique Hotel Experience”
Reviewed 25 May 2011

Forget a hotel! Stay on the Matylda/Klatylda. Boats are in a great location, very clean, and totally unique. Can't say I'd stay anywhere else while in Prague (with perhaps the Green Lobster being a notable and pricey exception). Breakfast selections are fresh and diverse. Dinner entrees very good, but not authentic Czech. Avoid the steak. Most of the staff are terrific. We had one waiter in the restaurant with an attitude. If that happens, ask to speak with someone (we did), and that's the last we saw of that waiter on that evening.

The breakfast could be better, and you really need double sized duvets instead of 2 singles...?! Other than this it's perfect. Staff are great, our room was clean and modern with great views. Cost around £100. Situated 10 mins from the centre. stayed here twice now and would come back :-)

What a place ! What a service ! What great value for money ! We where 29 people staying in Prague for a wedding. The Matylda Botel was worth every minute of the stay. The service was the best ever and the waiters could simply not have been any better. They where at hand from early morning 'till late at night, well after their work hours ended. Smiles and friendliness all day. Whatever we needed we would get. Not once did they say sorry or no. The hotel rooms where clean and charming. Not the biggest (there are several sizes) but who wants to stay in the room all the time... The food was tastefull and cheap. The Matylda is also one of the few cheap hotels where you can see the castel from your hotelroom. At no extra cost. Even before we where going home, there where plans to go back to this wonderful hotel. The hotel is situated apx. 10 min. walk from the main street in Prague.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the Klotylda, top deck.

My girlfriend surprised me with a night in this Botel. I have spent the past three years visiting Prague on a monthly basis and have stayed in a large number of hotel; some good, some bad. I was very impressed by this little neiche they have here with it's fantastic views over the river at night and great view towards the castle. For a location so central, it was almost tranquil during the night, only broken by the odd swan passing by. The staff were very attentive but also knew an appropriate level of distance. Staying at the Botel, guests are given 10% off the restaurant which I have to all say was brilliant, although slightly more expensive than other places. It is however worth the additional cost and in my opion is an ideal place to stay both central Prague and as a venue in it's own right.

I'd highly recommend this hotel and will definately be returning soon.

We have just spent 3 nights in this 'botel' in a superior double room facing the river and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Our 'cabin' on the sister boat Klotylda was very comfortable though compact and a little bit dark due to the wood finish. The en-suite was very well finished though the shower cubicles are on the small side but not a problem for us and the room was cleaned every day with fresh towels supplied.
The continental breakfast also included scrambled eggs, fried ham and bockwurst. It was plentiful and the best we have ever had in any hotel.
The staff were all really friendly and helpful.
The location is superb, only a 10 minutes walk to Charles Bridge, Old town etc and has lots of restaurants close by.

Room Tip: Get a room facing the river, take insect repellant

This is such a fun and romantic (even though I was alone) place to stay! I really highly recommend it. There are two boats tied up together on the Vltava River which form this "botel". The boats look small, but there wasn't any rocking back and forth or anything.

I had a single room which was still bigger than I expected. Certainly larger than a room on a cruise ship. It had a big bed facing two portholes out to the river. Very comfortable and it was so amazing looking out the window in the morning and seeing the ducks and geese paddling right by.

Pretty convenient location technically in Nové Město (New Town), but pretty much adjacent to the Staré Město (Old Town). Right across the street from the Dancing Building. You can also grab the subway about five minutes away straight down Resslova at Karlovo Náměstí.

Best of all, it was great value (although Prague is cheaper to begin with)! I paid $96 for one night in the low season. The only con was that it was sometimes loud with people walking around the wooden interior. Breakfast was decent and served in a lovely dining room with river views.

Paid around £90 for an exec room, very clean, great en suite and superb location. Honestly better than a lot of hotel rooms I've stayed in. Can't wait to go back in summer and sit on the roof top bar with a pint.
