“Loved the Hotel Michael”
Reviewed 9 November 2007

Enjoyed our stay at this hotel situated in a quiet residential area 20 mins tram ride out of the City. Friendly staff & extremely clean room, plenty of choice at breakfast too. Allowed us to leave our bags at hotel for the day after we checked out as we had a late evening flight & called a Taxi for us too. Very pleasant stay & would go back when in Prague.

Booked this hotel for 3 nights through Expedia. Read the reviews and decided to give it a shot. For starters, for those who complained the tram was too far, absurd! It is no more than a few minutes walk from the hotel. The tram, lines 3 and 17 usually get you into the centre of town within 20-25 minutes. Neighborhood is safe. Staff was courteous. Hotel is clean but I foresee major problems ahead. Walls are thin. You can easily hear lots of noise in adjoining rooms and hallways. Our room had no windows but three skylights. If you have them open and it rains, prepare for leaks. Floors in hallway as well as rooms have drops and shifts in heights. Building is settling in a few locations at different rates. Heating unit in bathroom did not work. There was a foul smell in bathroom. Beds were excellent, linens clean and comfortable. Breakfast buffet was not impressive. Also, beware of tour groups. We had the experience of being there at the same time with one particular group that literally grabbed everything in sight. If you came into the breakfast room afterwards, you are out of luck. The hotel will not give you anything. They also say they serve breakfast until 11am but they start clearing the buffet before 10am. There is free wireless internet access which is a big plus if you have your laptop. There is plenty of parking if you bring a car. There is no restaurants around except the one within the hotel. Did not eat there any of the nights so I can't comment. Overall, it is not a bad hotel but it is not a fantastic place either. It has some amenities that make it worthwhile. If you are on a strict budget, want to stay in a clean place with a good bed at a great price, and don't mind the commute, this is the place for you. If you want something a bit more, look elsewhere.

  • Liked — free wireless internet access
  • Disliked — substandard breakfast buffett

This hotel is clean, tidy and modern and good value for the money as we had 3 nights for the price of 2. Yes it is a 20 minute tram ride out of the centre but one tram takes you all the way to the centre by charles bridge for about 50p and the hotel sells tram tickets in the lobby so it is so easy. The tram goes pretty much all night with regularity only really slowing about 2am to twice an hour (if you are out that long!).

The hotel is in a residential area with bigish houses around, there is graffiti around but that is a prague wide problem and not a reflection on an area. The hotel restaurant is fine, limited in what if offers but easy for the first night when you have just arrived, mostly czech and italian in style.

The lobby staff speak good english and all the staff are friendly. In many ways it was nice to return to this quiet neighbourhood in the evenings.

The rooms are clean and tidy and ikea like in their furnishing.

Good value hotel which although out of town is easily accessible to the city.

  • Liked — Good clean, modern hotel which offers value for money
  • Disliked — the small lift!

This is a great hotel, good value, with some "buy two get one free" deals to be had. The hotel is well out of town, beware of this, if you want to tour the city then you need to remember the longish journey back. It's a 10 minute walk from the hotel to the tram halt then another 20 minutes into town. The rooms are modern, clean and comfortable. The breakfast is mostly bread and cereals with some scrambled eggs and frankfurters, quite good actually. The hotel restaurant is expensive, try the pub type restaurant close to the tram stop, a dinner plus drinks costs about 6 euros.

This is a Swiss Chalet style hotel within 5 minutes walk from the nearest tram stop (Cerny Hun).
Reception staff warm, friendly and very helpful.
Hotel exudes open airy and clean environment.
Bedrooms spacious and bed very comfortable. However only one chair was provided in the room.
Breakfast - Continental was buffet style and offered a wide selection of breads, meats, fruits, pastries and beverages. Sometthing to appeaal to all palates.
Location - Surrounding area initially looked slightly rundown but we had no safety issues.

my sister and I have just returned from a visit to Prague, staying at the Hotel Michael, and while the hotel was very nice clean and modern, it was lacking in other areas, there was no tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms, a must for us Brits!
also no iron, no room service and the website says satellite TV, but there was no English speaking channels available anywhere, however hard you searched! we mentioned this to the staff, but nothing was done about it.

in the restaurant they only served Japanese/korean food, although the website says Czech and Mediteranean food, so the one night that couldn't get out, because it was raining, we had to eat there!
there is restaurant if you want to walk a little way it is near the tram stop, at the local tennis club, but this particular night we couldn't because of a thunderstorm!

it is a bit far from the centre but easy enough to do, the tram stop is a ten minute walk away then it is around 15-20 mins to the centre.the transport system is very good and cheap enough, and the city is wonderful.
but if I was going again I would find somewhere a bit closer, but this hotel is good value for money.

  • Disliked — no tea/coffee making facilities no Eorpean food in restaurant

The hotel Michael is very modern, the reception, dining area, and bedrooms are spacious and clean.

We found it quite hard to find the hotel as it is about 30 minutes from the centre by tram and then a 20 minute walk away from the tram stop. There were no shops or restaurants near to the hotel which meant that we had to go in to the centre for everything that we needed.

The restaurant within the hotel was Japanese with the main meal on the menu being sushi which was very expensive; this was a big disappointment and also resulted in us eating out all the time.
The bedroom on the whole was quite nice however it did get cold at times, and there were no tea or coffee facilities available.
The staff within the hotel are very friendly and do their best to help with anything needed.

We really enjoyed our time in Prague however if we visit the city again we will definitely stay nearer to the centre.

  • Liked — It was very modern
  • Disliked — How far away it was from the city centre
