If the Old Town of Prague is a magnificent place to visit, as it is, then the Hotel Residence Agnes is a truly WONDERFUL place to call home during a vacation stay there. What a FIND!! It's conveniently located near to the Old Town Center, just a few blocks away, and the accommodations are comfortable and pleasing. What sets this hotel experience so memorably in a class by itself is the EXCEPTIONALLY FRIENDLY, GRACIOUS, and HOSPITABLE service by its staff. Every one!! From Lladro's courtesy transportation from the train station to the Agnes,
to co-owner Frank's genuine pleasure at welcoming us, to each and every other staff person who made us feel so completely tended to (including Ratka, Magdalena, Martin, and Gerry ... and others), the Residence Agnes' staff has a way of making you feel so special with their friendliness and service orientation. Want to have a courtesy glass of wine following a day's touring? How about a breakfast each morning that offers a wonderful array of edibles, from fruits and pastries to eggs and breakfast meats to desserts .... cheesecake, anyone??
My life partner and I left the Residence Agnes feeling as though we had visited with family or friends, the kind of family/friends that REALLY one would WANT to spend time with! If you're visiting Prague ... and don't require being in a chain-style hotel, then by all means, don't deprive yourself of the Residence Agnes. It may appear humble on its outside, but its humility translates into the loveliest of comfortable, reasonably-priced, and interpersonally-satisfying hotel experiences!

It doesn’t often happen that a hotel exceeds your expectations. This time it happened. Ths hotel in Prague is just perfect. The personal, efficient and generous service, the beautiful and quite location in the old city, the spacious room, the wonderful breakfast - all were impeccable and suited well the visit to this magnificent city. Highly recommended!

I have to say, I was a little dubious as to how this hotel had SO many good reviews but after staying here for a lovely weekend in Prague, I am one of the many people adding to the great reviews of this lovely hotel.
We stayed here for 2 nights at the beginning of April and was picked up by at the airport and taken to our hotel. The driver was very professional and pointed out lots of tourist spots.
The hotel is down a little side street and very unassuming but inside, it's simply wonderful. We were asked if we wanted beer or wine but seeing as I don't drink either, I just asked for Green Tea which was fine. This was all complimentary and offered everytime we came back after sightseeing which was lovely. It really made you feel as though your custom was wanted and I loved the personal touch. The breakfast was also lovely, lots of choice and although we didn't quite make it down for breakfast on Sunday morning (maybe a little bit of a late night...) I would definately recommend it. even when I was feeling a little worse for wear on Sunday morning, I was recommended garlic soup but couldn't find any for love nor money!
We were asked if we would like a lift anywhere we wanted to go FOC but seeing as 'd never been to Prague before we chose to walk which was lovely but the thought was there and again very much appreciated.
Our room was lovely, the bed was huge and comfortable and ditto for the bathroom. I would've liked a bath in the bathroom instaed of just a shower but the shower was lovely.
We also received a bottle of wine upon our arrival which was lovely and although we didn't drink it again, the thought and gesture was lovely. The hotel is literally a 5 minute walk to the old town main square so was a wonderful location also.
All in all we had a wonerful stay here and would not hesitate to stay here again in a heartbeat.
I do apologise for the long wait inbetween the stay and the review!

We spent 4 amazing days in the wonderful city of Prague and it was made all the more special by this amazing hotel. Perfect stay. Frank and his staff are exceptional. Free pick up to and from the station (taking us and our bags right inside). They also refused tips and say it is just part of their service. Wine and beer, tea and coffee etc on arrival and every day after that when returning from a day sightseeing. They arranged dinner (even escorting us to the restaurant), made tour reservations and will drive you anywhere in the city. And all that for no charge and always a smile. Our room clean, comfortable and quiet and a bottle of wine in our room on arrival. The bed very comfortable and lovely pillows. Location was perfect for the old town and not far to other areas of the city. Breakfast was wonderful, always fresh and plentiful and the staff attentive and friendly. Have to admit the apple tart for breakfast was simply divine. What more can I say. This hotel beats any we have stayed in and Frank deserves his rating as the number 1 hotel and beats the service received anywhere else during our travels.

Room Tip: Any room, just stay here

From the moment we were picked up at the airport, arranged by the hotel, we had a good feeling! We were met by Radka at the reception and sat in the atrium with a complimentary drink, while we signed in and got an overview of the city. Radha is committed to her work and a proud resident of this beautiful city. The hotel is walking distance from almost all tourist attractions. They offer free transportation wherever you want and complimentary drinks when you return. We spent two nights and were overwhelmed by the attention to service, probably the best service ever received in a hotel. A bottle of wine in the room one afternoon, a box of chocolates one evening, and part of our bill paid for by Frank, the owner, at a local restaurant called Vkolkovné. Outstanding service, incredible breakfast each day. Rooms are somewhat small, but this is Europe and expected. Would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: We were on 4 th floor, elevator only goes to 3 rd floor FYI !

We found almost everything mentioned in the hundreds of previous reviews to be true. The service is exceptional.....breakfast outstanding.....location convenient and value tough to beat. Although aspects of our room left something to be desired, the pros outweighed the cons sufficiently to award 5 stars to the Agnes.

Pros:
- Service: From the moment you walk though the door, your wish is their command. Frank and his harem of female assistants, including Natalie, Magda, Linda and Radka ( and others - each one beautiful )...plus the 2 Martins working the 7 PM to 7 AM shift...try to fulfill every wish. Everybody pitches in. They’re a receptionist one minute...clearing tables from breakfast the next and moving luggage into the elevator after that. A boutique hotel in the best sense.

Examples: My 86 year old mother accompanied us, along with another couple, on what she called “my last great adventure”. The staff could not have been more supportive. After a member of the other duo complained the bed was a bit too soft, Frank personally brought a new mattress into the room. When we needed to visit a somewhat distant attraction, Frank provided free transportation...not once but twice. Finally, on the day of departure, he arranged complimentary transport for 4 of us at 430 AM...and separately for my mother at 730 AM.

More examples: Since we left our electronic converter in Budapest, Magda said “here. Take our’s”. I said “great. We’ll buy one tomorrow”. Her reply...”no way. Just keep it for the next 5 days”. Requests for restaurant suggestions were not simply met with “try this”. No...everything was outlined on a map. And, perhaps most important for me, the room was cleaned spotlessly each day.

- Breakfast: A generous sampling of healthy food whose taste matched its gorgeous appearance. A big bowl of Greek yogurt with diced and sliced fresh fruit is a great way to build energy for the day ahead. However, I could not pass up a slice ( or 2 ) of light, yet flavorful, cheesecake or apple strudel...even at 9 AM. This spread would normally be $20-30 in a large hotel. It’s included at the Agnes.

- Location: Downtown Prague is meant for walking...even if the cobblestones are a challenge. The hotel is within 10 blocks of most major attractions and 1-2 miles of farther ones, such as the Castle District. Our room, #206, overlooked the courtyard of a charming church in a scene reminiscent of Paris.

- Value: We had 3 Deluxe Double Rooms for 5 nights in late April and paid around $185 per night including tax. It’s a steal. When you add breakfast...complimentary transportation and unparalleled service...the temptation is to just stay and declare residency.

Cons ( yes, there are a few ):
- Bathrooms had few places to put things normally required. Our room, #206, only had a small space to the right of the sink. No shelves. Bottles and cans got deposited on the floor. Both my mother in #302 and the other couple in #306 had a tiny glass shelf to the left of their sink plus a towel holder on the wall. None of us had shelves in the shower stall.

- Bath towels were relatively thin, so we all requested extra ones each day. It took a few attempts for this to be done on a regular basis.

- Temperature control of the shower was tough to manage. We agreed the most comfortable water was in a narrow, difficult to find, zone which occasionally turned unexpectedly cold or hot.

- It’s great to return from a day of sightseeing with an offer of wine or a cold/hot drink. However, instead of small plates with shelled peanuts on each table in the lobby, I’d expand the food choice to include cheese, crackers and perhaps fruit.

Is the Hotel Residence Agnes perfect? No. Would we return? In a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the church courtyard. It's charming and quiet…except for Sunday morn...
