We had the Prague card which gave us free entry to golden lane. Very happy it was free for us, would’ve been disappointed after paying to enter. It’s about one block long little painted houses selling tourist junk.

The golden lane is very short street, few shops and exhibition. Kafka old house has very narrow entrance, hard to enter when lots tour groups around.

Last time we visited (it’s our third time) there were galleries in the little houses glass artists , jewelry and paintings. Now it’s changed in some kind of a museum , you have to pay an entrance fee to see it. The houses look very much alike on the inside so if you see one you’ve seen them all. The place is very crowded so it’s very difficult to get inside and definitely not worth the trouble .

Visiting the Golden Lane has nothing to do with what is supposed to be it’s past.... the search for a way to make gold. Cheap replica’s of armor and torture devices, most if not all replications are not historical, looks very fake, etc. Worst of all, you’re crammed into tiny hallways barely large enough to hold two people, much less the mobs of tourist. Thumbs down. Don’t waste your time or money here.

There isn’t much to do or see in the Golden Lane. It’s a cramped little space that almost feels like it was created just for tourists, even though it was once a real residential lane, and people lived in the tiny houses. You can see the house we’re Frank Kafka once lived, and you can poke around some displays of how people once lived a worked in “olden days,” but it’s not something that will stay in my memory as particularly noteworthy.
