“Good food but overprized”
Reviewed 21 September 2013 via mobile

The place is in the touristical streets of Prague and superb location. Is situated in old caves which are restored and gives a romantic medieval atmosphere. Sufficient staff and food is good. The wine list is extensive and this restaurant could be based in France and then be rated okay. Reason to give a relative low score is the price, always difficult converting Czeck crowns into Euro but for a 3 course over Eur 100 per person is just too much for the whole experience ...

“This is not good value for money”
Reviewed 20 September 2013 via mobile

This restaurant felt quite similar to the Bellevue in Prague, small portions and expensive. It is 55 euros for 3 courses which is fine if they are normal sized portions, but they are very small like degustation plates, which i think is overpriced. A glass of champagne was 20 euros incl tax. The food was ok, not memorable. I have eaten at many michelin star restaurants, all offering better value.

“Excellent quality and value for money”
Reviewed 29 August 2013

The food scene in Prague has developed in a very interesting way in just a few years’ time. This restaurant is a very good example of the trend towards excellence in food and service. Although situated in a cellar the Environment of the restaurant feels to have plenty of space while being elegantly understated. The food is prepared and presented with great care and artistry and service is attentive and friendly in a professionally excellent way. The wine pairing to the meals is excellent and our advice is to really involve the enthusiastic sommelier in your wine discussions. This is an excellent choice for business as well as social dinners. The selection of Armagnac’s from 1897 to 1997 is of interest after the meal. This is an expensive restaurant by Prague standards but by international standards the prices are very reasonable.

“Gourmet restaurant at reasonable price”
Reviewed 28 August 2013

We found this restaurant in a travel guide and we had no idea what to expect. We had diner here with our 2 teenage children.
It was a beautiful late summer evening so we chose to sit outside. The indoor restaurant is a cozy cellar. We chose for the 5 course menu. It was delightful: wonderful flavors, beautiful presentation, great service. The wine list is extensive and also the cheese table.
I am surpriced it is not a Michelin star restaurant.

“Clearly one of the highlights of the Czech restaurant scene”
Reviewed 11 August 2013

This restaurant was voted since 3 years either the best or one of the best in different guides of Czech republic. So time to check it out.

There are only 4 tables outside in the small courtyard, the main sitting area in the cellar with bricks deco. The view on the way down is impressive for wine & armagnac lovers :-))

Menu is either fixed 5 course (with possible wine pairings), or choice of 3-5 course.
2 amuse bouches + 3 - 4 courses and you will leave quite full from this degustation experience.
There is a clearly french base in the menu, but size of portion is fortunatelly with some Czech inspiration

Mainly fish & meat with some specialties like frog legs or black rooster. Starting from cold starters it was sometimes surprising combination of a few ingredients which gave always excellent new taste experience. We were 4 of us, tried pretty ,much everything and we were not disappointed with any of the meals.

Service was really good, even if there were missing some small details like preparing the chair at least for the ladies when seated.
Positive surprise was also selection of mainly French cheeses.

Wine list is pretty extensive with dominance of once again French wines from many regions with overrepresentation of Burgundy wines. There is solid choice of Czech wines, and especially the white ones are reasonably priced (still around 50 EUR per bottle) good choice.

Nice dinner for a bit special occasions will definitely not be disapponting
