“Very bad service”
Reviewed 8 October 2013

The food in this place was not bad if you consider that is a restaurant located inside the Prague castle and is working only with tourists that will go here once and never come back......
But tacking advantage of tourists and CHEATING on prices and bill is not funny...........
After our lunch we asked for the bill that was made at the table by the waitress with a calculator, verbally she told us the amount saying that 15% was added as service charge (by law in Czeck republic the bill that they give you must be all inclusive).....at my request to have a written invoice a piece of paper hand written was given to me with the total amount and no details of the charges.
My impression is that this waitress is not only cheating on the customers but also on the owner of the place....

“Good Food”
Reviewed 6 May 2013 via mobile

I had Goulash and it has amazing flavor! Meat is very tender and rich. My wife had the baked camembert with warm apples and she was very pleased, the wine could be better, but it it is the same for most Check wines. Portions are small though, but prices are fair. I would recomend this place.

“A warm place on a cold day.”
Reviewed 2 May 2013

The restaurant is set within the precincts of Prague Castle. On the day we visited the weather was pretty miserable. We were funnelled round the side of the St Vitus Cathederal to queue and noticed the sign for the restaurant. It commenced a cold drizzle as we waited for admission to the cathedral and though the inside was absolutely amazing it was blooming cold! We came out and rushed into Restaurant Vikarka for 2 coffees to warm up. It was far too early for lunch so we went to the "golden street" and had a look round. Didn't see any better restaurant for lunch so returned about 1pm to Vikarka.

Shown to a table by a friendly waiter, we ordered 1 x camembert hot on an onion base with a salad, 1 x duck liver in confit and 1 bottle of local red wine, Znovin Znoj Rulanke Modre 2011 which was delicious. We then had 2 coffees. The bill was extremely reasonable and we had a very pleasant lunch before we went to view the old apartments and the rest of our castle tour feeling much warmer!

Service was good and although we only had a light lunch that was good too!

“When looks do not meet the reality”
Reviewed 15 March 2013

This restaurant looks good from the outside. It is an historical restaurant in the tradition of a Czech beer hall. However, the food is dreadful the vegetables are cooked to the point they are limp and any nutritional value is long gone. The beer cheese is disgusting (I've had better). the main dishes are average, at best. I recommend skipping it. It's bound to disappoint.
