Excellent place to stay with extremely professional, and friendly environment. Unbelievably clean and unbeatable service with friendly staff. Without a doubt, I highly recommend this hotel.

I was blown away by Hotel General. The decor was beautiful, service was expectional and the hotel was clean down to every square inch. The staff treated my husband and I like family and also spoke multilanuages including English, which is a major advantage when traveling abroad. The rooms were very cozy and inviting, and accomodated to my ever need. I will be visiting here again the next time I visit Prague and I highly recomend Hotel General to anyone planning a trip to Prague.

Just returned from Prague and would recommend this hotel to anyone. We were a party of 8, staying in 5 rooms, and all of us rated the hotel and service, a real 5 star. From the welcoming drink to the checking out process, all of the staff were helpful and friendly. The rooms were spotlessly clean, with large spacious bathrooms and comfy beds, and the breakfast was fabulous. It took us about 25mins to walk into the old town, but its only about an 8min walk to the metro and tram stop, which was really easy to use. Good resturants and bars nearby. All in all, this hotel made our stay.

They gave to us a Suite General for our romantic stay in Prague as a nice present (thanks to Zuzana). Everything has been perfect: staff, breakfast, cleaning, location (20 minutes by walking from center city)... The best hotel we've never stay in! We reccomend it to everyone. Thanks very much to Hotel General!

We booked the Hotel General based on reviews we found here in tripadvisor for a weekend trip to Prague.
The hotel was easy to reach from the interstate and is located only one block from the river. In case you get lost, ask for the Staropramen brewery which is a bit down the road and everyone knows it.
The area might on the first glance not be the best, but Smichov is apparently becoming more and more popular. Even though a bit to the south, you can still reach most tourist sites by foot in less than 30minutes by walking along the river. There are tram stops and a metro stop (Anděl) a 3-5 minutes walk away.

Parking:
You could probably park on the street in front of the hotel, but to be on the safe side, the hotel has its own parking garage which is definietly secure, just the entryway is not suited for the biggest cars or vans. We spend the extra euros and knew that the car was safe.

Arrival:
We were greeted like royalty at arrival and the receptionist asked us to take a seat in the lobby to commence with the check-in procedure. We received complimentary welcome drinks (even a friend of us who did not stay at the hotel). The receptionist gave us maps and tourist guides and explained how to reach the tram and metro stops.

Rooms:
The rooms seemed newly renovated and spotless clean. Everything from flatscreen TV to AC worked fine and the appearance was definitely 5-star. The rooms are supposed to look a bit like old grand hotel rooms - if you look for modern and minimalistic design, this is not your place.

Breakfast:
Breakfast was until 11, which was very conveniant on the weekend. The buffet was not huge but we did not miss anything. The staff was extremely fast but not hovering over your plate. Eggs were prepared for you if desired and one could have breakfast at the room as well at no extra charge.

All together a great experience. Great staff and well worth the money. We did not mind not being in the tourist centers since it was a lot more quiet as well.

This is such a great theme hotel. My wife and I loved it and learned all about Lord Nelson. Free internet. Free breakfast. And not only breakfast, but a white glove service plus buffet breakfast! For breakfast, get the Czech pancakes...a little thicker than a crepe. One day I had them with fruit and another day had them with chocolate sauce. They are so Yum! And the hot chocolate is great too. The service was also very personal as the hotel is rather small. The staff happily set up several tours for me and provided a lot of advice both before I arrived and after I checked in. The rooms were beautiful.

And for the fish lovers out there, the lobby has a 250+ salt water aquarium.

The only drawback is that you are not in the city center. However, it is a very quick trip on the subway or train ride (about 10-15 minutes). Also, if you book a tour, the drop-off will likely be in the city center.

Of course I would stay there again.
