“Brilliant mix of old and new”
Reviewed 17 April 2013 via mobile

We stayed for 4 days at the Palace Road hotel (formerly the Castle Steps). From the moment we arrived -greeted warmly by the two guys at reception and provided with helpful advice on local restaurants and tips on public transport- to our departure, we really enjoyed our stay.
We had booked a deluxe double and were in room 5. What a great space ! large bedroom, lounge and private patio. We particularly liked the bathtub freestanding in an area leading off from the lounge, great to soak in after a day sightseeing, with the floodlit spires in view
Great location and would recommend the Beseda restaurant in Malostranska square- 300 czk for two three course lunches with beer.

Palace Road is a wonderful hotel with a good location and an excellent staff. The rooms are really big, stylish, and the price is very very good for what you get!! We did a photoshoot at their hotel and they helped us a lot finding extra things, they let us shoot in other rooms what we did not book as well and let us shoot at the common area of the hotel. They were overall very helpful and friendly, tried to make sure our stay was perfect.
The hotel itself is in a good location just over the Charles Bridge and is a walking distance from all the most important tourist sights and the old town.
Definitely recommending to everybody!

The hotel is in a great location. The rooms are really big and the staff were really freindly. The plants in the room were a nice touch. make sure to peep out the window as there is a music school oposite so u can often see the harp being played. I would definatly recoment this hotel for a weekend break.... i wouldnt want to live there but for a weekend its fine. Not bad value for money either

We were simply amazed at how beautiful our room was, and the building too for that matter. Our room was massive, really high under the ceiling, complete with chandelier. Felt like we were in some castle! The bathroom was big, it even had a tub, and was also furnished with antique furniture. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Can't recommend it enough!

Room Tip: Just give them a call and say what type of room you would like. The value for money is quite surpris...

Nice Hotel. Good value for money! The Guys at reception were very nice and even took my bags to my room. I Stayed in one of the deluxe rooms, room was impeccable. The hotel also has a very nice restaurant that is about 2 minutes walk from the hotel. However the service at the restaurant was not the best. One waiter was very pleasant and the other was not. After I had eaten my food I told the waiter that I was from the Hotel and thus I qualified for the 10 percent discount. He got upset that I had not told him before and stormed off from the table. In the end another waiter came to the table and sorted out my bill. He was very friendly.

Hotel is great
Restaurant is good but service can sometimes be bad.

Palace hotel prague: Very clean up to date staff friendly hotel. Just down the block is the main walkway street, no traffic allowed, all cobblestone, that leads down to the old city and numerous other sites, the city is famous for. The hotel is a huge bargain for the price. Approx. $150.00 /ngt. Gets you a genuine 4star hotel as centrally located as it could be.The breakfast is included with the room, offers totally everything you can imagine for breakfast, and lunch! Which is easily done by the variety offered and unlimited food types, even go bags. FABULOUS!
Only one minor negative. We had a great room with balcony street front 2/3 floor. Late ngt.noise would wake us up from the bars clubs closing, so just stay away from the front street. Our traveling companions had another room located to the side and heard nothing, Still, a great value . Across the street is the mocha museum excellent little museum, whether your a art fan or not.

Room Tip: Explained in main narrative.

We are budget travelers, Palace Road Hotel (or formerly Castle Steps) offers reasonable rates in this relatively expensive city. Be aware that the lowest price offer refers to another building, and none of which was photographed in the web site. In fact some rooms do not even have a bathroom. We had the cheapest room in the hotel, the one on the top floor, a few steps below the eating area. The room is decently decorated and very quiet. For the price I paid, I am not complaining. I did wish that the bathroom was en suite, we had to bump into morning breakfast crowd to get to the bathroom. The hotel location is awesome, right below the Prague castle and minutes walk to the bus line. The staff was very helpful, even helped us to lift our luggage to the top most floor.

A few practical details:
1) Ask if your room comes with an en suite bathroom.
2) I recommend purchasing Prague daily pass because the bus / tram line does get expensive.
