Lovely restaurant with great charm with an interesting tilting fountain in the restaurant antechamber. Plenty of history and atmosphere at this place. Waiters were nice and service was good.

However for the prices paid, which are on the mid-high to high side for Prague, the food left a lot to be desired. Had the pork curry and the goulash and both came out cold with the meat tough and overcooked. The curry sauce was decent in terms of flavor but the goulash sauce was bland.

Would not go back again.

My wife and I are returning to this café/restaurant about ten times a year for the following reasons: One of the best espressos in Prague, very reasonable prices, the food is always excellent, ice cream, and dessert of a first-class quality and extremely friendly, professional and effective staff. I hope that this is understood as a high recommendation fro this restaurants where some of the waiters are there for 15 years. And this also says something.

Well, maybe with their ghosts....but they did frequent this attractive, light-filled old restaurant upstairs in an old building in Prague. We had lunch - the salmon tartar was delicious. But I wish I had time to return for breakfast or an afternoon dessert and espresso.

The desserts looked absolutely delicious - cakes with chocolate, whipped cream, tarts with fresh fruit - yum!

A wonderful place to sit, converse, read, think....excellent food and service - with memories of Prague of yesteryear.

My friend told me that the hot choc at Cafe Louvre is really good so we popped there for a dinner. I thought the price would be as much as typical fine dining restaurant in Europe: overpriced, but surprisingly you could have a main course there for only 6-7 eur! and the hotchoc it was one of the finest hot chocolate I've ever tried I must say, topped with whipped cream and blended with rum (which was quite strong, but I like it). I'll be back again for sure!

Cafe Louvre is over a 100 years old and was apparently frequented by Einstein and Kafka. The food was good, and the restaurant is very elegant. There is outdoor seating, cafe type seating and a billiards room that you can play chess or billiards in while eating. An average meal would be around 200CZK (about $8), and beers are cheap too ($1-2). There is even a special lunch menu that has cheaper items. This is a great place to eat.
