We randomly decided to eat here on our last night in Prague and it is one of our most memorable experiences. The ambiance / atmosphere is breathtaking. It is located in an old wine cellar/cave that was transformed into a small restaurant underground. It feels like you are heading down into a "Hobbits" home. The walls are mostly cave rock.

The food was fantastic, service fast and very helpful / polite. Can not recommend it more - DO IT!

We visited the Monastery where the Monks used to make beer and stopped to have lunch in the "cellar" where they used to keep the wine and we were not disappointed. I had the Risotto and my husband had the Goulash and both were delicious. The mood is quiet and very romantic, dim lighting in a cave with great food. Definitely worth a visit.

We were told to go to Peklo by a local to try the beer that the monks make!
We were so happy we did. Only two blocks from the castle but so quiet compared to the rest of Prague. We were so pleased to find the "cave" setting. No touristy surrounding or behavior by anyone at Peklo. We chose to have traditional Czech food and it was great! Highly recommend going down to "Hell" in the church backyard.

My husband and I stayed at the Lindner Hotel Prague, close to the Prague Castle. We were recommended by the hotel to dine at the Peklo restaurant and we asked in the morning the same day if they could reserve a table for us for eight o'clock in the evening. When we came there, no one knew that we were coming and we were asked to pick any table. A stressed-up barman who was all in civilian clothes was trying to tend to all the guests. He came to us when we sat down to tell us that they could not accept credit cards as the machine had broken down. This they could not have told us earlier in the day, hmm? The waiter did not care at all about fixing the table for us or to offer us some appetizer or otherwise to feel welcomed!!! We got the menus after a while, which looked decent, but that was an illusion. The food arrived in descent time but it proved to be disaster. My husband chose the restaurants most expensive dish, the Irish lamb racks, which was viscous and without any taste at all. I chose the specially grilled pork chop, which was not eatable at all, dry, har and very viscous.
We clearly told the waiter that we were not pleased with the food, but they did not show any sign of understanding, no descent customer care at all, only arrogance!
Final remarks. our visit to the Peklo restaurant was a very unpleasant experience and we can not recommend this restaurant to anyone. For us it was an unfortunate ending of a otherwise wonderful weekend in Prague

We visited the restaurant on a Sunday. It was recommended by our hotel next door (make sure you do this for a free glass of presence). The restaurant is in an old monastery wine cellar, very unique. There is a quiet ambience, apart from the 'elevator music' which was a little annoying. The food was stunning, service was great and the owner is passionate about what we brings out with a 1st service class to match. Well worth a visit and avoids the crowds!
