Description: The famous Stopek's Beer House has always been one of the pillars of Czech social and cultural life in Brno. There has been a pub here since the second half of the 19th century. It became famous with the arrival of the new owner, the genius Jaroslav Stopka, who took over the original Jonak's Beer House in 1910. Period advertisements always declared that the best Pilsner beer could be had at Stopka's. The pub retained its character and atmosphere even after its extensive modernisation. The author of the façade of the beer house is Czech painter and graphic artist Láďa Novák (1865 - 1944), a well-know Prague bohemian and also the author of the decorations on the U Fleků Pub in Prague, was also repaired and renovated. Pilsner Urquell and dark Velkopopovický Kozel, Fénix and Birell Light are all on tap. The head chef at Stopek's Beer House, Matěj Kovacs, recommends the excellent rosemary flavoured roasted lamb hock.

“Great beer and kitchen”
Reviewed 28 May 2014 via mobile

Do you want to taste the most popular beer in czech and an old czech dishes with dumplings and sauces? You'll never be disappointed if you visit this pub. There is every evening overcrowded, so let's make a reservation before. Shame they haven't any place to sit down outside

“Great bear, typical food”
Reviewed 10 April 2014

We had a few Pilsner Urquells they are really fantastic, although they are always the same excellent quality in the Czech Republic:) The interior is pleasant, a typical Czech pub. Downside is, they allow smoking inside. Food was okay, however I had better Czech meals in Prague. The portions are huge, and the staff is friendly. The only thing that prevents me from giving four "stars" is the smoking and the starter "beer-sausage" which I didn't really like. A nice place in summary with very reasonable price, I'd recommend it for by-passers.

“Far from a typical czech pub”
Reviewed 4 April 2014

Been there several times and it is always the same. Food is just mediocre, service is fast and friendly, selection is good. The interior is simple and mimics a typical Czech pub.
Sadly the food seems like cooked on a conveyer - comes quickly and lucks the real taste. I dont know if it is cooked the day before and being frozen after that. Or they are delivering it semi cooked and they are just warming it up in the microwave, but .... it is disappointing.
The only positive thing is the beer. And the central location.

“Taste of Traditional Food and Atmosphere”
Reviewed 22 March 2014

I had lunch with friends at this restaurant when I visited Brno. It's recommended by local people, and I was not disappointed. Try Czech specialities. The staff was attentive and helpful. Overall, it's very enjoyable dining experience in Brno.

Try genuine Pilsen and tasty duck with cabbage and dumplings or chicken wings. Unfortunately a bit sterile place. You will be delighted but not surprised.
