This hotel is very expensive for a Czech person, yet the services are bad. I booked a room with AC, paid extra for it and at night, the AC stopped working. I called the reception desk and the receptionist told me that no repair can be done at night. She offered to move me to another room, but the AC was not working there either. I had to open the window to be able to sleep, but the noise from the street was very bad. The hotel is NOT in a quiet neigborhood. In the morning, I was told the AC shuts down when the temperature outside is 17C! So one pays for AC and then in hot weather has to suffer at night. The receptionist at night did not know this information so the service was really not good at all. I would not stay in this hotel again.

Stuck here for a week on business. Someone said this rated 3 star: well it's obviously a different exchange rate in Brno! It's closer to a high rise Travelodge.
Standard rooms are 'austere'. Single room means single bed, though there was a minibar and an easy chair and a desk.
TV means CNN is the only English channel again.
Bathroom was recently redone, so clean, but cramped.

There was a trade fair on and the hotel was packed. The 'restaurant' for breakfast was like a massive works canteen: melamine top tables in serried ranks with chairs either side, and a scrummage to find a seat to sit at. Then attracting a waiter to get some coffee was the next challenge.
If you like cold breakfast then there was quite a selection if you could get near it. Hot breakfast was bacon stewing in its own juice, sausage that was Bratwurst chock full of garlic: just the thing for your first appointment! The fried eggs had been half done in the round frames, then left to skin over on the hotplate. At least the hot(!?) crumbed ham was edible.

There is a restaurant for dinner, noticeably a tenth of the size of the breakfast room. Clearly everyone does their best to eat elsewhere. We found out why as well: don't eat the lamb it's as tough as old boots!

Then they managed to lose one of my shirts in the laundry. After several days pressing them and rubbishing their usual statement of it wasn't in the bag, they paid me out of the petty cash. (I've taken to photographing my laundry first because they keep losing it! How sad is that?)

No facilities that we could find here: fitness room, pool: no chance. And guess what: try and find a table in a restaurant without booking!

If you're touring Europe on a budget, then OK, but not for business. PS They are top of the list for stag packages in Brno, so weekends might be a bit noisy (assuming anyone in their wrong minds might want to go there!)

My husband my teaching in Brno and the university had booked this hotel for us and our daughter to stay in.

We waited patiently to check in as there were a couple of people in the hotel. Our patience was sorely tried when other customers who arrived after us were served first. we thought perhaps it was just an oversight. But, this happened several times and the only thing we could put it down to, from our obsevation, was that Nationals got served first. Patriotsm is all well and good but in this situation, it's just silly.

Our room was adequate. Three single beds, a tv, nice big windows with a great view of the city, a desk, cupboards, drawers, a fridge ...the usual. So we were a little surprised that this 3 star hotel didn't provide tea and coffee making facilities.

We found the information on the services provided somewhat lacking. We wanted to have a coffee and maybe a light meal but couldn't figure out if the hotel had a cafe, for a while and then there was no information to say what time it opened, closed or what they served.

Breakfast was included, and it was very nice. A nice variety of food-cereals, juice, fruit, a good variation of bread, some pastries and cakes, salad, cheese, jam and hot food-eggs, tomatoes, bacon. Again, it was the service that let the hotel down. There were only one or two waiters who were very slow to bring the coffees and teas, plus the tables weren't getting cleaned. We had to do a lot of tidying up ourselves just to have somewhere for the 3 of us to sit.

We were pleased to check out but not so pleased when we were asked to pay more than what was originally quoted. It was also not appreciated that when we queried the price change, to be told well if we didn't pay the full amount then the employee has to pay the difference. We didn't know what to believe.

It was a disappointing experience. We have travelled to many countries over the last 2 years, and this was the first hotel with such bad service.

I stay at the Continental every March while in Brno on business (education), and I wouldn't stay anywhere else now. At first sight, it seems as if the hotel hasn't been updated since it was built, but in truth, it has been maintained as a jewel from the past, with many of its original Modernist features. The staff is spectacular (they even drove me to the train station one March during a blizzard when the taxis and trams weren't running!), it's very close to public transportation and to some wonderful little pubs/restaurants, it's right on the edge of the shopping/cultural district, it's quiet (except when the teenage tour groups are in town; ask to be put on a different floor!), and the hotel restaurant/bar is amazing, with good-quality wine at dirt-cheap prices and excellent food (try the cream of tomato soup or any of the duck dishes). There's free unlimited internet in every room, and the Continental is much cheaper than most of the other tourist-class hotels in the city. High-class business travellers won't be impressed, but I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a friendly, pleasant stay at a reasonable cost.

The Hotel Continental appears a little austere as you approach. It's basically a multi-story block built in the 60's, with decor to match! However, the prices are reasonable, there is ample car parking (including secured, underground), it's very clean and comfortable and the staff are multi-lingual.
It's just a short walk to the city, with restaurants within easy walking distance. I often stay here, if the AVANTI is fully booked.
