Owner description: The Origin of Open Gardens At the beginning the idea was to create a modern and environmentally friendly yet functional space that would serve as a good example as to how others - businesses, schools, government agencies and the general public, could follow. This idea came into being in the fall of 2012. Built in the heart of the second largest city in the Czech Republic, the Open Gardens has been functioning as a textbook of environmentally friendly architecture, sustainable agriculture and modern environmental protection. Climate change poses a fundamental threat to people in the Amazon rainforest, India, sub-Saharan Africa or in Europe. Unprecedented floods, droughts and unpredictable weather changes threaten the lives of millions of people around the globe. The Open Gardens is a living example of suitable adaptation measures to climate change which can be adopted in a highly urbanized areas. Open Gardens = Education and Fun! Open Gardens consists of two parts: a unique environmental education facility, and an office development which provides a home to several Czech NGOs. Open Gardens hosts countless events and activities - seminars, lectures, workshops, family events and educational programs tailored for students. As well, visitors can enjoy guided tours of the passive buildings or rent a place for a private family party. The emphasis of the whole garden design is put on adventure exploration of ecological coherences and the laws of nature focusing mainly to alternative energy sources and physical phenomena, energy savings, utilization of renewable sources of energy and the use of vegetation elements in their natural way.

it's a very nice garden with different installation, mostly visited when different programs are made there, especially fun days for small children. Its a small walk from the city center.

I am a woman that prefers town to village and definitely parks to jungle. Nature combined with civilization, mighty forces tamed not to harm people in this part of the world. Now there is a new piece of art – a wooden sculpture called Two –in- One created by a yourg artist Václav Kyselka. Open garden is able to open and refresh your mind, enjoy it!

This is a very nice setting, though some exhibits didn't work at the time I visited. It's quite central and worth visiting.

Brno “Open Garden“ has been offering relax, fun and knowledge since spring 2013. This place is really a sort of opener that is able to widen minds and hearts of visitors. Garden design focuses on four elements – earth, water, air and sun – not only as forces to be studied, but also as toys that are never ever boring. Students and admirers of any age find many things that are new, different, surprising, challenging. I am looking forward to taking part in the guided tour.
