“Great Hotel in a Forest”
Reviewed 24 March 2013 via mobile

We stayed here for 4 nights as a base for visiting Brno.
The hotel is in a quiet location,at the top of a hill in a wooded area overlooking Brno.
The staff are very polite & helpful.
Not being a Czech speaker,German became the lingua franca, although most of the younger staff spoke English.
The breakfast was adequate, although we did find 5 yoghurts well past their use by dates!
The dinner menu had a good choice of meals & they had a 'Hot Tips' specials board up each day.
For UK people the bar prices are ridiculously cheap!
Rooms are clean & comfortable.
Soaps & gels are provided.
A 2 hourly bus service, from outside the hotel gets you into Brno in 10 minutes, even on a Sunday.
Tickets cost Czk25 for a 1 hour ticket available from the hotel reception.
A taxi into the centre costs around Czk250.
Some nice walks in the vast forest around the hotel.
We booked direct with the hotel paying €208 for 4 nights & would certainly consider staying there again.

There is wonderful view from the terrasa of the Restaurant inside Hotel Myslivna Brno. The best time is visit there in summer. You can have your lunch/dinner or only coffee/drink and enjoy the view from the west side of Brno.

Stayed here for the second time for a work conference. I always enjoy coming to Myslivna...its like stepping back in time in terms of the decor, but the character of the hotel really shines through. The hotel is (I understand) a converted Hunting Lodge from Communist times, and I always feel as though you can imagine the Army Generals sitting on the rooftop terrace admiring their city of Brno beneath them.

The rooms are perfectly adequate although the bedlinen could do with being changed...there were a few holes in the sheets. Having said that, everything is very clean so one cannot complain.

The hotel's Wi-Fi has improved dramatically since the last trip and I had no problems connecting to the (free) service.

Restaurant food is good and the service very efficient. The only thing I guess one should be aware of is the stuffed animals on the walls...its not to everyone's taste but for me it just adds to the character.

I really can't fault this place...expecially now I have also discovered the woods that the hotel is situated in...beautiful walks all around!

Room Tip: A room on the back has a balcony...

The service in the terrace restaurant is terrible. Unwilling to accommodate any request, unfriendly. One example - we asked if we could move the table to the shadow, it was hot noon and the sun was shining directly to our reserved table. The waiter looked bothered, but agreed... yet he did let us know we should move the tables by yourselves. Unbelievable. The food quality was OK, the price is good. Tables/chairs, equipment etc. feels little bit on the cheap side. The view from terrace is terrific. But the aftertaste is bitter, you feel unwelcome, every your request bothers waiters.

Hotel is on site of old hunting lodge set among peaceful woods. Rooms are as shown on website, very clean and most have a nice balcony onto the woods. Very 60s retro communist hotel that has been updated nicely. In the summer you can have breakfast on the viewing terrace with views of Brno.

Buses take ten minutes to get into town and are every hour, or every twenty minutes if you walk a short distance. There is a very beautiful walk down through the woods along a small tarmac road to the Anthropos Park where they have a cafe with excellent beer and crisps. On the way you can see all sorts of birds, butterflies and squirrels. It is also possible to carry on this walk in the woods along the river to the centre of Brno.

The staff are very friendly and helpful and the breakfast is nice, above average for this kind of hotel. Only slight annoyance is the piped music, does not really suit the calm atmosphere of the hotel. Also, limited number of non Czech channels on the TV.

Very good value and provides a more restful experience than a hotel in the city centre.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony

An odd mixture of old fashioned (key racks at reception for example) and trying to be modern, Converted from former Communist Party local HQ into a hotel, beautifully situated in the hills overlooking the city of Brno. Comfortable bedroom, minimally equipped bathroom (remember to take your own soap and shampoos!) but clean and well maintained. Not an extensive breakfast bar, but extremely attentive and hardworking staff. I attended a wedding reception, which was beautifully presented and the staff joined in the hearty celebrations!! Possibly borderline 3*, but exceptionally good value for money. Not too convenient for the city (you need a car) nor the little Brno airport, but a genuine Czech Republic experience.

Room Tip: Look for aroom with balcony overlloking the city

This hotel is really touch of 20th century in CZ style. Hotel is old, but they are trying to renovate it.
The stuff is there more 15-20 years ( I am visiting this hotel more than 15 years) becouse of really amazing and quite location in the Brno city, situated in the fact in small forest, with beautifull view to the city (during the summer from restaurant terrace). The only problem is time to time the stuff, which is really sometimes "funny".
Hotel is clean, the beds are good, the only problem in the rooms are old bathrooms, which are really a typical "socialist style" from last century.
