“Very basic accommodation with abrupt unfriendly staff”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 March 2012

Visited this hotel as part of a Stag party. It felt like due to the fact we were a Stag party we were labelled as a nuisance and treated in a very abrupt and very unfriendly manner.

The fact we were a mature group, who were friendly and very polite seemed to make absolutely no difference.

The rooms were very very basic and initially we were expected to share a double bed despite paying for a twin. When this was highlighted we were scowled at with raised voices as if were at fault for refusing to accept a lower service?????? Thankfully our guide intervened explaining it was the hotels fault, not ours, however this made little difference and we were still treated abruptly, When the matter was resolved and we were given a bed each, the extra bed in fact being a pull out sofa.

The breakfast was largely inedible, thick skinned hot dog style sausages, cucumber, cheese and coleslaw etc, furthermore the staff around the breakfast area were also extremely unfriendly, on our second day hoovering as we tried to eat despite this being an hour before the breakfast serving finished?!

The staff here are the entire problem, if they were friendly, welcoming, polite and had half an idea of customer service they could really turn this around. However, if they continue to treat paying guests in such a rude way I would be amazed if they stay in business!! Avoid this hotel if at all possible, especially if part of a male group.

Stayed here as part of a stag party. To be fair it was perfect for our group as we were only there to sleep. It was very basic.

First time I have been to a hotel where you must hand in your key whenever you go out, meaning any Tom, Dick or Harry could turn up, say your room number and go and raid your luggage while you are out.

On arrival we got ready to hit the town and wanted to grab a quick shower before heading out. One of the guys in my room went to use it and upon opening the shower screen door it came away and the glass smashed everywhere. Purely an accident and not the result of a stag group larking around, you would say. I went to reception to report the matter, who were initially kind enough to provide us with another room.

We then went out for the evening and handed our key to reception. On returning to collect our key we were faced with a 3000kcz bill (£100) for damage to the door, even though it was explained it was an accident! They deemed it couldn't have be and refused to hand over the key until we coughed up said 3000kcz. Grudgingly the 3 of us had to split the cost for this else it would have probably resulted in the attendance of Czech Police who would have no doubt sided with the hotel staff.

Had this not have happened I may have submitted a positive review, but it would only be to say it was stag friendly.

This is the worst hotel I've stayed in for 20 years. My advice if this is your only option - stay home.

Hotel is about 10 mins walk from town and they sell Capri sonne, they are the good points!
In the staff handbook they need to write a passage about smiling, not even when we checked in did we see a smile. Oh and so so un-helpful. Avoid breakfast if you value your day, it WILL put you on the toilet and I've seen bible pages thicker than that paper.
If your on a stag weekend then its the perfect hotel with the boys, if your trying to surprise your girlfriend with this hotel then she might just leave you.

Hello:-)

I would not recommend this hotel at all! The rooms are shady, part of the bathroom was broken, i would not go barefood on the carpet and if you expect a double bed because you booked one, i hate to disappoint you: two little beds in a tiny little room! the breakfast is in a "cellar" - not nice! on top of it i forgot my (expensive) sunglasses there and although they found them and I sent them the adress, they "lost" them again and where not at all helpful! even the boss wasn´t bothered by that treatment! so althogether i would not go back there again!

Although far from appalling this hotel unfortuntately deserves many of the negative comments in other reviews and has an accumulation of disappointing or poor quality features, which make staying there a poor experience: there was no light in my bathroom only a skylight (hard to wash at night); the main light was operated by a sensor (no switch) going off or on when you didn't want it too; the lift only goes up to the third floor of this five storey building (tough if you have luggage and are on the top floor); breakfast is not that great (watery weak coffee especially annoying) in a dingy basement breakfast room. There are problems with wi-fi access on the top floors.

The staff are indeed offhanded and blunt in a way fairly typical of old style Czech institutions, although far from the rudest or least helpful I have encountered in the Czech Republic in many years of going there. However, the biggest problem is value for money: my two night stay cost 5800 CZK, which is around 300USD or 200GBP for which price you could stay in a decent hotel in Prague let alone Brno.

The hotel's one small advantage is it's fairly central location - 10 mins walk from central Brno and right near the Luzanky park. There is also a great Hare Krishna restaurant round the corner in Luzanecka street called Harebol.

One of the worst hotels I've stayed in in my life. I can deal with surly staff, but the rooms were HORRIBLE. Unliveable, unsleepable. Tiny bathroom. No storage space. Not really even beds, more like cots. Breakfast in deplorable Soviet-style room in basement.
