“An excellent stay”
Reviewed 9 September 2013

I used this hotel to stay in Gdansk during an exhibition.
The hotel was not too far from the exhibition center (20min taxi trip) an not too far from the airport either (about 30min taxi trip).
The rates were cheap for the comfort provided and the hotel was very clean, rather modern, and fast wifi access was available in the bedrooms for free.

Good hotel in the near of the beach of Sopot and only 15 minutes far from the centre of Gdansk with the bus. The hotel staff was very friendly. Good and plentiful breakfast. Free wifi in the room.....

The hotel is convenient, if dont have early meetings in Gdansk, because traffic is awful in the morning and in general at rush hours. For short stays it fits perfectly, because its possible to pay a visit to beautiful Sopot seaside.

I've stayed there several times in 2011 and had only positive impressions. All rooms were clean, staff friendly, and breakfests quite tasty. Above all, the location is perfect both for those planning to go downtown or to the seaside.

Room Tip: Try to avoid rooms with windows to Grunwaldzka (main) street. There is a tram there which can distur...

Very pleasant hotel situated in the suburb of Oliwa. Easy access to Gdansk and Sopot as well as the airport.
Substantial breakfast on offer, extremely helpful staff, parking and wi-fi. A hotel I would have no hesitation in using again or recommending to friends.

Something to make clear upfront is that the hotel is near the suburb of Oliwa and far from the centre of Gdansk! To reach the centre you will need to walk 5mins to the train station (Gdansk Oliwa) and after 5 stops get off at the Gdansk Central Station. The train tickets are cheap and run through the night as well (every hour though).

The rooms are of decent size, good bed and shower. The hotel offers free WiFi as well with password given to you at the reception. There is no Air Condition in the room or temperature control so if you're hot then you have to open the windows (and it can get noisy). Also the rooms have old style (CRT) TVs with no English language channels!

Check-in & out was speedy but watch-out when you ask for a cab to the airport, for some strange reason I was charged 90zt which is a bit too much...!

Efficient on arrival with speedy check-in and clean and tidy room with all the facilities you would expect of a 3 star property. Taxi fro Gdansk Airport was 80ZL which is higher than the cost should be (about 50-60ZL). Better to use bus or SKM train which is only 3ZL each (total 6ZL) from Gdansk Airport if your flight time allows.

Rooms are not huge but big enough with TV (No English Channels), phone nice furnishings and well equipped bathroom with free toiletaries. The rooms don't have much of a view as the hotel is on a main road in Oliwa but its an ideal spot for fast travel to Gdansk, Sopot or Gydnia as the tram/bus station is across the road and the SKM local train station is just a street away. If you like fast food then McDonald's have a place right next door to the hotel!

Breakfast was much better thasn expected with a range of hot and cold foods, cerials, savouries, bread, rolls, juices and various types of tea and coffee. Even with few guests the range is excellent and you can eat enough to sustain you for most of the day.

The staff at the Hotel speak very fluent English and go out of their way to help with directions and local information about the area and its facilities. Wireless Internet was very good in the room and also in the lobby. The hotel password for access was provided on check-in without having to ask. There is a small bar which the receptionist serves on demand and it offers a good range of wines and beers at reasonable prices (7ZL for a bottle of local lager).

Hotel Oliwski is ideal for short stays and has a secure car park underground. I would return without hesitiation.

PS: Don't miss Galleria Baltika the new shopping mall in Gdansk. Some nice stuff there but don't expect bargains, prices for designer brands are broadly similar to the UK.

Room Tip: Get one at the side of the hotel as there is a main road at the front.
